Cuisinart DCC-2200 reviews - good coffee maker
Most people reading this review probably came here because they were looking for a coffee maker that was capable of producing something a little more than the next coffee maker. The Cuisinart DCC-2200 does just that. The Cuisnart DCC-2200 might not produce a lot of coffee when compared to a 20 plus cup percolator, but it certainly does an excellent job in this class of coffee maker.
The Cuisinart DCC-2200 really does, perhaps partly because of an improved shower head, or the heating element which holds the temperature just perfectly produce a rather excellent cup of coffee. The shower head delivers the water smoothly and evenly over the coffee, thus preventing dry spots. The heating element keeps the temperature just right, which prevents the coffee from having a "burnt" taste to it, which I have personally experienced plenty before now, and am glad is not an issue with this machine. On this subject we must mention that the Cuisinart DCC-2200 provides an excellent cup of coffee whether it is brewing its maximum capacity of 14 cups for a large party of people, or whether it is brewing just a 4 cup pot for 2 or 3 people.
One slight drawback to this particular Cuisinart model is that there is no thermal carafe. The reasons why a thermal carafe is preferable over the heated base method of keeping coffee heated is because when coffee is left on the heater for a prolonged period of time we often find that the quality of the coffee decreases and the flavor disappears. This said however, the majority of online reviews of this coffee maker still rave about the flavor and say that the issue with the carafe is not big enough to put them off buying. The carafe provided however does have a nice feature worth mentioning. Instead of the typical flip top style, we have a carafe lid that snaps shut, this is good for making sure there is no spillage or wastage.
Some have reported that when the heating element switches off there is a loud annoying beep, but let's be honest, you have to be in a pretty bad mood just to get annoyed by a beeping noise when your coffee has finished heating. Some other issues include there being no water level indicator on the outside of the machine, meaning we have to look inside the tank to check the water level. None of these things however, I think detract enough to give the Cuisinart DCC-2200 bad rating, and it gets a big thumbs up from me. Well done Cuisinart!
