Should I Buy an ICE-20 or ICE-21 or ICE-30?

The following article takes a look at three very popular & highly regarded frozen dessert (ice cream, sorbet etc.) makers from Cuisinart -- ICE-20 Vs ICE-21 Vs ICE-30 -- by providing a brief  & objective account of each, so you can get a clear overview as to what each model can offer you as well as how they differ (and how they are similar) with regards to specifications and features. From this, you will then get a better understanding as to which model is right for you given the features & quality it offers (respective to their price tags).

The ICE-20 Overview

The ice-20 is the basic model and is an automatic dessert maker (sorbet, sherbet etc.) that makes them in just short of 25 minutes -- producing up to 1.5 quarts. Simply add the ingredients (no salt or ice needed). Then applying the easy-lock lid over the double insulated freezer bowl (chamber) for 8 or so hours -- then you have your frozen desert base, the machine turns on for 20 odd minutes and you are done (all you have to do is follow the detailed & simple to follow instruction guide provided -- and make sure you have the right ingredients!).

There is no need to mix up the ingredients -- due to it being automatic -- where the heavy duty motors makes the frozen desert in just minutes (fast & efficient -- with it being essentially mess-free, nor is it that loud) producing a perfect consistency from the freezer for uniform smooth produce -- then once your happy, just scoop it up and dish it out. Then once finished you can quickly detach the mixing arm & bowl and give it a clean then... job done.

The ICE-21 Overview

Again, the ICE-21 works on the same concept with a heavy duty motor being made (although even quicker & quieter) at under 20 minutes (usually 15). Simply add your ingredients through its spout to the bowl (towards the latter period of the freezing cycle you can add speciality ingredients e.g. nuts, chocolate), lock it into place (with the easy-lock-lid) turn it on and watch it get to work (through the transparent lid) with the mixing paddle & motor (just make sure you allow for the freezing time -- 16 hrs to 24 hrs -- and have prepared the bowl (all the info is in the recipe/instruction guide). Like the ICE-20, the ICE-21 also has a freezing bowl of 1.5 quarts. As everything is detachable, cleaning up is very quick & easy.

The ICE-30BC Overview

Of course the ICE-30 works on the same concept -- but as you can see it certainly looks more like the business, really sleek looking being brushed with stainless steel, whilst also having a  larger 2 quart (double insulated) freezer bowl and ingredient spout. Simply add the fresh ingredients, turn it on & you're done in 20 minutes. In all, it claims to offer you a slight edge in consistency over the other two. A truly wonderful ice cream maker.

Conclusion - Which should you buy the ICE-20, ICE-21 or ICE-30?

If you are on a tight budget, go with the ICE-20 -- honestly you are getting a fab ice cream maker and you won't be missing too much by not opting for the ICE-21 or ICE-30 (great value for your money!). However, if you are planning on using quality (and expensive) ingredients then go for the ICE-30BC -- to get the absolute most out of them (particularly if you are planning to serve to a fair amount of people). All the models, however are fantastic and I would be surprised if you are unhappy with any of them.

ICE-20 Vs ICE-21: as said, I don't think you are really missing much by going with the ICE-20 -- it is perhaps a little bit more difficult to clean & slightly louder -- but  the results are pretty much both to an incredible standard.

ICE-20 Vs ICE-30: see the conclusion (above).

ICE-21 Vs ICE-30: it depends if you plan to use it for self use (go for the ICE-21) or for group use mainly (ICE-30).

Also, if you have any queries, concerns or general remarks regarding either the overview comparison of the ICE-20 Vs ICE-21 Vs ICE-30BC or about any of the ice cream (& sorbet, frozen yogurt) makers then please do not hesitate to make them in the comments section -- that you will find just below the fold -- and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
