By Edited Jul 5, 2015 1 1

Kidney stones can be very painful. In fact, passing a kidney stone is likened to labor during pregnancy. It simply hurts that bad. And the bad news is that there is no cure for kidney stones. However, there are natural ways to dealing with this problem when you are passing them AND there are also some good tips on preventing you from getting them in the first place.

If you have had a kidney stone, then the chances are good that you will get them again. Kidney stones are believed to be genetic meaning that they are passed down from family member to family member. Some regions are also affected differently as well. For instance, in the southern region of the United States, kidney stones are more prevalent. Many researchers believe that this is because of the hot and humid climate which can dehydrate a person quickly.

Most kidney stones are hard calcium deposits that have built up in the bloodstream. So in order to prevent a kidney stone, we need to keep calcium from building up into deposits. And to pass them, we need to look at a way to dissolve them as they pass through our urinary tract.

Here are 4 helpful hints that will help you naturally pass a kidney stone:

  1. Drink lots of water- You should drink at least half your weight in ounces a day. In other words, if you weigh 100 pounds, you should be drinking 50 ounces of water a day. Add a little lemon to the water as well. The citric acid in the lemon will help dissolve the calcium deposits.
  2. Exercise- There is a lot to be said for exercise. For one thing, exercising will help move the blood and also help the body move the toxins out of your body. This will help keep your urinary tract from things that may build up...like calcium.
  3. Eat a clean diet with lots of fiber- Today, the average American gets 15 grams of fiber a day. This is about half of the recommended allowance. 100 years ago, the average american got 4 times what we get today. Fiber will help keep your digestive system clean and clear of toxic build up.
  4. Look into a phosphoric remedy- Phosphorous combined with fiber will dissolve calcium stones that have already formed making them easier to pass through the system.
Those are just 4 simple changes in your diet and lifestyle that will help you prevent and manage kidney stones the natural way. Remember, doctors can't cure kidney stones. They can only give you things to relieve the pain and advice on how to prevent them.
