DC17 Vs DC25

If you are wondering whether to buy the Dyson DC17 or the Dyson DC25 vacuum cleaner, then you have come to the right place for guidance. Below, is a detailed breakdown analysis of the 'DC17 Vs DC25' debate, analysing and highlighting both their positive aspects and differences as well as their weaknesses and similarities. Then finally I will go on to present an overall verdict for both the DC17 and the DC25 -- hopefully allowing you to get a more informed decision over which upright Dyson Vacuum cleaner you are looking to buy (also be sure to check out the DC17 Vs DC25 'Animal' video comparison at the end of the article for further insights into each Dyson Vacuum).

The stand out difference between the DC17 and the DC25, is the simple fact that the DC17 fails to possess the new highly rated Dyson 'Ball' Technology that the DC25 does. The Dyson 'Ball' allows for greater flexibility and maneuverability presenting a far easier cleaning experience for the user with the given ability to twist and turn, rather than the DC17 which has a fixed wheeled mechanism forcing the user to drag it back and forth. Moreover, the DC25 weighs in at just 16.1 pounds, whereas the DC17 weighs in at a tad over 20lbs, allowing the DC25 to be the clear winner in this regard. DC25 Wins.

General Specifications

Dyson DC17 All Floors
The DC17 claims to have a larger bin capacity at 0.625 gallons compared to that of the DC25 with just o.31 gallons, moreover the DC17 also has a larger cord length at 35 feet whereas the DC25 cord stands at just 24.6 feet. However, the max reach for the vacuum cleaner stands at 40.3 ft for the DC25, and 51 ft for the DC17 -- so it can be argued that the DC17 Wins  (This being said, also bear in mind the weight of the vacuum 'DC25 weighs in at just 16.1 ' & the 'DC17 weighs in at 20.79 lbs and they are rather similar by dimension DC17: '26-2/3 by 13-1/5 by 43-1/2 inches' to the DC25: '12-1/5 by 15-2/5 by 42-2/5' inches) -- but only just.

It is said they both possess the same suction power measurement of 220 air watts -- being effective on all types of flooring, as well as both possessing the same unique Dyson patented 'Root Cyclone Technology', that allows the user to be free of major clogging as well as experience no loss of suction from the Vacuum Cleaner. Moreover, they are fixed with a five year warranty and designed in the same functional practice and ergonomic design e.g. a HEPA filter, as well as the clear bin design for ease of checking dirt. Also, being provided with similar accessories such as the 'wand' feature for stairs and difficult to get to areas.

Should You Buy the Dyson DC17 or the DC25?

As you can see from the above, the DC17 has some positives (e.g. larger bin capacity etc.) and some negatives (e.g. lack of the Dyson Ball) when compared to the DC25 and vice versa. However, there is one final factor that we haven't considered and that is the price. You will often find that the DC25 is often a little bit more expensive by roughly $50 give or take. Even with this being said, I would still personally opt for the DC25, for the simple practice that it is  easier to use and function. However, if I did have a larger house that needed cleaning, I would probably be more inclined to opt for the DC17 due to its better suited specifications. Let me know what you would choose and why?
