DC50 Multi floor Vs DC50 Animal

By Edited Jun 28, 2014 0 0

What's the Difference?

Are you planning on getting the compact Dyson DC50 vacuum cleaner however are unsure on whether to get the multi-floor version or the animal version & what the difference is between them? If so, the following guide should be able to help you out.

So firstly, the only difference between a DC50 multi-floor & DC50 Animal is that the latter comes with an extra attachment (as well as a colour change - the Multi-floor is in classic Dyson yellow & the Animal is purple) -- the incredibly well regarded: tangle free turbine tool that has been specifically designed for efficient & effective pick-up of pet hair in and around your house. This is pretty much it, all other aspects remain the same.

The power is identical -- being able to perform like that of a fully sized vacuum cleaner (due to being incorporated with a 140 AW of constant suction & the advanced two-tier radial root cyclone technology) as well as the engineering updates to the DC50 (with a re-configured cleaner head -  being able to self adjust to different floor types to allow for a more optimal cleaning performance).

Moreover, the filtration system is the same whereby it captures pollen, allergens & ultra fine dust particles from being expelled into the air (which is obviously particularly useful for those who are asthmatic or are allergy sufferers -- or basically anyone who wants healthy clean air). The warranty coverage of 5 years for both parts and labour also applies to both versions of the vacuum.

Moreover, they are the same compact size (dimensions: 106.4 x 28 x 35.4 cm) & offer the same minimal practical specifications (bin capacity: 0.8 litres, cord length: 7.6 m, max telescope reach: 8.7 m) and extreme ease of use in mobility (being ultra lightweight - 5.4 kg - being Dyson's lightest vacuum upright produced & the updated centralised Dyson Ball mechanism allowing to essentially turn on a dime).

The Difference Between the DC50 Multi-floor & DC50 Animal

As said the difference comes in the accessories provided - they both come with the combination tool (which is essentially a crevice tool that can be used for vacuuming tight & awkward gaps that also doubles up with a brush nozzle to allow you to power dust essentially) as well as a stair based tool (which is also suitable for cleaning upholstery etc.).

However, the Animal version just also comes with the tangle free turbine head that can remove hair without it getting tangled (making it have a much greater durability than other competing attachments) & releases hair directly into the bin capacity. This is why, the DC50 Animal is a bit more expensive than the DC50 multi-floor model.

You may also be interested in buying additional attachments for your DC50 -- for instance if you have a serious pet hair problem you may want to get yourself the Dyson Groom that can be applied directly to your cat or dog. There are also bundle packages like the Dyson Home Cleaning Kit.

This accessory kit improves the functionality of your DC50 further as it includes: a soft dusting brush (which allows you to be free of the fear of potentially scratching a delicate surface or area), a stubborn dirt brush (enabling you to remove tough dug-in dirt from soft flooring) and up-top brushes (to make cleaning high surfaces e.g. shelves & the tops of wardrobes, easy).

Should I Buy a DC50 Multi-floor or DC50 Animal?

Because the tangle free turbine head is such a great attachment to have even when you don't have a major hair issue (where it receives over 150 positive reviews averaging 4.5 + stars out of 5) in your household is enough of a reason for me to advise you to get the Animal version over the multi-floor (e.g. it is great for intricate cleaning jobs such as the car & stairs etc.). Obviously, it is worth weighing up the difference in prices between the two & whether it is cheaper to get the multi-floor & buy this attachment separately (or whether you really truly need it) -- but because it is in a bundle package the DC50 Animal is usually the cheaper of the two.
