Dangers of Different of Tanning Products
The power of the social stigma that drives many fair skinned individuals to seek a strategy to add some color to their skin can be comprehended by the huge selection of tanning products in the market today. There are pills that promise a tanning effect and all sorts of lotions for the skin. Some lotions are meant to be used to help the tanning process while other lotions are the tanning process in themselves.
One of the most radical methods of tanning the skin is the tanning pill. These are not FDA approved and considered a very dangerous product. Unfortunately it is still promoted by the manufacturing companies who care more about marketing a product than the health of consumers. These pills contain high levels of a chemical used in food coloring. While it is safe in small doses as food coloring, the high dosage in pills can cause many health problems and definitely not worth the risk posed.
The safe products are those that do not require the user to consume or inject anything inside the body. The bronzer is an example of this because it just sits on top of the skin. The only issue is that it is a very temporary tan and washes off with a simple shower. A bronzer is not unlike makeup in the way it is simply a cover up and can cause coloration to rub off onto the inside of clothing.
A very safe fake tanning solution is the line of sunless tanning lotions. These lotions produce a tan that is good for approximately five to seven days. Manufacturer instructions usually state that the user should reapply every three days to maintain a consistent tan.
This type of tanning lotion is very safe because it just uses a solution that is based on DHA which is a sugar compound that reacts with the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. This react causes the coloration of the dead skin cells and does not affect any other function of the body. The only risk is a slight reaction to specific ingredients in the lotion. This makes it arguably the best indoor tanning lotion.
There are other forms of indoor tanning lotions that don't produce the coloration to the skin but rather increases the rate of tanning when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. These lotions are used to improve the consistency of the tan produced from lying under the sun or in a tanning bed.
