Chronic Sinus Problems

Chronic sinus problems can be very frustrating as the pain and discomfort of sinus pressure can become so much more than just an annoyance. Chronic sinus pain and pressure can lead to various breathing issues as well as a weakened immune system if compensation measures aren’t taken. Sometimes it’s as simple as identifying triggers for sinus problems. Allergies are often a significant culprit and the common cold can be very tough on the patient. If you can identify the cause of your sinus problems you may be able to take some action to relieve it or decrease your frequency of symptoms.

Cause of Sinus Problems

Chronic sinus problems can be caused by any number of things. Allergens are a cause and can be controlled to some extent with home air purification to help improve breathing problems. Similarly humidity can also cause sinus pain due to dryness and cracking in extreme cases. Running a humidifier in your home may make a nice solution to these kinds of symptoms.

Another cause of chronic sinus problems is systemic inflammation which can be greatly affected by your diet. If you suspect that inflammation is a contributing factor to your sinus problems then try adding foods to your diet which naturally reverse inflammation such as garlic and walnuts. OTC drug treatments can also lean in the direction of anti-inflammatories such as aspirin or ibuprofen. These kinds of drugs work to decrease the inflammation that sometimes causes sinus irritation, pain, and problems.

Avoiding Sinus Problems

If you suffer from chronic sinus problems you probably also want to do whatever you can to avoid colds. Colds can wreak havoc on your sinuses and bronchial tubes due to the congestion that can occur. Cold symptoms are always very similar to chronic sinus problems so the condition compounds in the case where a cold exists. You can try to prevent colds with home remedies and by simply practicing good hygiene.

Washing your hands is actually one of the best ways to prevent colds because the virus remains on your hands for hours and sometimes days before becoming non-contagious. If you do not wash your hands regularly you will be far more likely to catch a cold and far more likely to experience amplified sinus problems. Work on your prevention tactics now to experience fewer problems later.

Chronic sinus problems are not something that will just go away one there own. You have to recognize the triggers for them and work to minimize the frequency and severity to find sinus pain relief. Keep your air and hands clean, eat better, keep inflammation low, practice better asthma control, and maintain optimal humidity levels and you will be doing a lot of good for your chronic sinus problems and hopefully eliminating them all together.
