Dealing With Fibromyalgia

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 2 2

Fibromyalgia has become a new diagnosis within the last few years and doctors are still trying to figure out the cause of fibromyalgia.  Fibromyalgia is a disorder where one experiences severe pain in a specific area.  This

disorder can make someone extremely tired as well.  Luckily, there are ways to deal with the symptoms of fibromyalgia to make life a little less painful and easier for you to do the things that you love.

Hot tubs are helpful when you want to ease your fibromyalgia symptoms.  You may feel pain or soreness in your muscles on a daily basis.  Warm water and strong jets will help your muscles loosen up and feel better.

Exercise(134471)
Exercise will also help your fibromyalgia symptoms.  Walking and easy exercises will help loosen up the muscles that you don’t use.  A lot of people who suffer from fibromyalgia tend to not use their muscles in the area where they feel pain.  This is harmful because your muscles will get stiff and you may experience more pain.

If you suffer from fibromyalgia, it is important not to overdo it.  Don’t plan on hosting a wedding shower, volunteering at a craft fair and doing your morning exercise routine all on the same time.  Since fibromyalgia is called the invisible illness, you may feel worse than you look.  A lot of people do not understand this disorder because people with fibromyalgia can look fine on the outside but on the inside be suffering from a lot of pain.

Limit the amount of stress when you are having symptoms of fibromyalgia.  When you are dealing with this disorder, everything that used to feel simple is probably a lot more difficult for you and may be stressful for you.  Limit the amount of stress in your life.  Enjoy a dinner out instead of cooking it or enjoy a professional massage.

Since your job involves your daily life, you will have to modify things at work.  If you work at home, make things comfortable and take breaks often.  If you work in an office, replace your chair with something comfortable or add a back massager to it.  You can also buy a ottoman to raise your feet while you are sitting at your computer desk.

Sleep(134472)
People who suffer from fibromyalgia may not get the right amount of sleep each night because they are always in pain.  It is important to get the recommended amount of sleep each night so you can feel well rested and better in the morning.  Go to bed at a decent time and make a point to getting up at the same time every morning.  You can also use darkening shades to make sure your room stays dark.  These shades can eliminate noise as well.

There are many ways you can deal with fibromyalgia to make living a little easier.  Since there isn’t a cure for this disorder yet, it is important to make yourself as comfortable as possible as you find ways to deal with it everyday.
