Deciding Which Tandem Stroller Style Is Right For You

By | Oct 23, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Tandem strollers come in two basic styles, the side by side and the front to back. While both of these will hold two children, there are many subtle differences and not so subtle that makes choosing one a little more than a quick decision. From basic frame types to what type of accessories are available, shopping for the right one may take some time.

The side by side tandem stroller is the old standby. This model has been around since twin babies were invented. The main drawback of these is that getting them though a doorway can be a trick in and of itself.

The arrival of the front to back tandem stroller resolved this issue. Fitting easily through almost any doorway at a mere 20 inches wide, more and more parents saw the benefit to owning this style of stroller. Models come with wide selection of accessories to choose from.

Side by side strollers have the distinct disadvantage of only letting one infant carrier to be used at any given time. The front to back tandem strollers fit one or both carriers with ease. This is very convenient if you have twins, but if you children are apart in age, then a side by side stroller may fit your needs.

Some of the front to back strollers let you turn the front seat so it faces you, this lets you watch your child as you are pushing the stroller. Other models will let you rotate both seats to face the same way at the same time. Keeping an eye on the children, particularly infants, is very important.

Accessories are available from rain guards to trays to hold your drinks on the back. While some models come with this feature standard, there are a few out there that may need an upgrade from time to time. Take some time and do some research, the perfect tandem stroller is waiting out there for you.
