Deep Cycle Battery Charger

By | Jun 15, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

A 12V deep cycle battery charger is one that supports large (25 to 110 amp-hour) 12 volt batteries and small (8 amp-hour) 6 or 12 volt batteries. This deep cycle battery charger automatically switches between trickle charging and fast charging when needed. The temperature-compensated and current-limited output from it helps to properly charge batteries while allowing minimal "back current" from the battery. This battery charger is powered from 110-VAC. These deep cycle battery chargers provide one-unit capability to charge almost any type of battery including conventional automotive batteries. Circuit breakers are part of the package to protect against reverse hookup and overloads. The 12V deep cycle battery charger also comes with a timer that allows a user to decide how long to charge.

  • 10 amp fast charge for everyday charging needs - charges a deep-cycle battery in 6 to 12 hours; an automotive battery in 2 to 5 hours.
  • 12-hour timer with "hold" position for continuous or timed charging of deep-cycle batteries.
To use this charger for deep cycle battery recharging, you will first need to remove and disconnect the deep cycle battery. Next, you will have to turn off the device or vehicle that is connected to the deep cycle battery. You can then proceed to remove the vent caps and check the battery's electrolyte levels (follow the instructions outlined in the battery manual since testing methods can differ based on various battery manufacturers).

Next, you can proceed to connect the deep cycle battery recharger to the battery that you wish to charge. The recharger itself should be switched off before you connect it to the battery. You should follow the instructions closely because different chargers tend to work differently. The entire deep cycle battery recharging process may take up to 20 hours or so.
