Deer Hunting Crossbows
I would like to talk a little about deer hunting crossbows today. If you have been a bow hunter in the state of
In the past few years, I would say that hunting crossbows have come further than they have in the past 30. Due to the loosening of state laws, the industry for this type of archery equipment has skyrocketed. It is probably safe to say that it will continue to increase from here on out for several reasons. For starters, more and more beginners are being introduced into the sport of deer hunting, and crossbows are much easier to use than a compound bow. It not only the fact that they are easier to be accurate with, they are also just down right cool. I don't care what any of the critics say, these things are awesome. Bowtech has just recently come out with a crossbow that can reach speeds of over 400 fps. If you haven't seen it, then you need to check out the Bowtech Stryker on you tube, the video will bow your mind. The arrow sounds and fly's like nothing I have ever seen before.
The only problem with that kind of deer hunting crossbow is that it is so expensive, that most hunters would not be able to afford it. Most of the people that I have seen purchasing it were seasoned pros whose main hobby was hunting. Makes sense to me – some people spend thousands of dollars a year on golfing related things – whereas people like me have $700 Zeiss scopes on a $1500 dollar rifle. This reall is funny in my opinion. People will complain about how they won't spend that kind of money on a rifle, but shell out a few grand for some new clubs and even more for their golfing club memberships. As for me, I am a little less spread out – my main hobby is hunting so I try to stay focused on it. Anyways, another great crossbow out on the market that I think highly of is the Barnett Predator. This crossbow is of great quality and listed at a decent price for what it is. The Predator shoots around 375 fps with the right arrows and all. That is another thing to look out for, most of these crossbows will say that they do 320 fps and come with aluminum arrows. Folks, more than likely they were not using cheap aluminum arrows when they got that kind of speed out of it. Just pay attention and do your research.
