Delicious Home Chest Congestion Remedies

Have you ever had flu and felt an additional pain on the chest that makes it so hard to breathe? If yes is the answer, then you are one who has already experienced the pains of chest congestion.

Chest congestion is often a result of severe flu or cold. Compared to the normal pains bought by these illnesses, however, chest congestion can be a serious matter because it brings labored breathing, chest pains, and severe coughs with it.

Caused by the lungs being filled up with too much mucus, having chest congestions can be extremely uncomfortable and even fatal if not immediately aided.

The good news is there are a number of chest congestion remedies which you can do without actually spending for a hospital bill.

These home remedies are considered better than the commercial and over-the-counter chest congestion remedies because of their natural components.

One example is using cayenne pepper and tomato juice. In making this remedy, 8 ounces of tomato or even vegetable juice should be mixed with 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

The person having the congestions should drink big gulps of the mixture to speed up the unnecessary drainage on his lungs.

Other effective examples of natural chest congestion remedies are honey and lemon, fried onion poultice, and chicken soup. In preparing the honey and lemon recipe, 1/8 cups of concentrated lemon juice should be mixed with 16 ounces of water and 2 tablespoons of honey.

This is considered as one of the most effective chest congestion remedies because the lemon helps dissolve the mucus while the honey works to coat the throat for relief.

The fried onion poultice recipe, on the other hand, involves frying 2 large sliced onions on little butter or oil. After the onions were properly fried, the oil should be drained of by using a paper towel.

Once dry, the onions should be wrapped in another paper towel and placed on the chest. Keep it for no less than 30 minutes.

Onion is a vegetable with natural heat and it can speed up draining the mucus on the chest. The last of the best of natural chest congestion remedies is the chicken soup.

This recipe is pretty much like the traditional chicken soup except that generous amounts of spicy condiments should be added on the recipe.

The main idea is to make the soup spicy so that once consumed; it will heat up the body and help in dissolving the mucus on the lungs. Try some of these chest congestion remedies out, you'll find that they taste great and make you feel much better too!
