Its important that you get into the habit of massaging your gums and flossing on a daily basis. This is vital for your health and will help with the prevention of gum disease. The American Dental Association recommends you floss your teeth on a daily basis to reduce plaque and help kill bacteria. Massaging your gums also helps keep your teeth healthy and prevents problems in your oral health. There are various products for massaging your gums and cleaning your tongue at local stores.

A neat trick I learned, is to practice clicking your teeth lightly against each other. This has been found to bring blood flow to your gums and stimulate them which will help prevent plaque buildup as well as maintain good gum health.

Make sure you are gargling with mouthwash at least two times a day. This will help kill millions of bacteria in your mouth and help protect you from mouth disease. The American Dental Association recommends people gargle with mouthwash at least twice a day and/or after every meal.

Make sure you have a healthy diet. Be sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean meat, fish, nuts, and healthy snacks. Also, aim to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. This will help freshen your breath and help you maintain good oral hygiene and health in addition to limit the amount of bacteria and plaque buildup in your mouth and around your teeth and gums.

Supplement your diet with Omega-3 fish oils and vitamin E. These two supplements have had profound effects on oral health and can help you maintain good teeth and gum health.

Make sure you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth. Cleaning your tongue will help freshen your breath as well as kill bacteria in your mouth. Most newer toothbrushes have mini bristles on them that are for brushing and cleaning your tongue. Make it a point to clean your tongue after brushing your teeth.

In conclusion be sure you are following these tips to maintain excellent oral health. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, floss daily, use mouthwash, avoid sweets when possible, and maintain a healthy diet and you will have a healthy smile for life. Good Luck!
