Juicing for Health and Fitness

Juice Detox

Fruit and vegetable juices are nature’s best resource for detoxifying, rebuilding and maintaining a healthy body balance. In general, it would be true to say that the most effective detox agents can be found in fruit juices, whilst vegetable juices are the best aid for rebuilding cellular structure within the body. Many detox programmes are based on fruit juice whilst studies have shown that particular vegetable juices may well help treat or prevent major diseases such as cancer, circulatory issues that cause heart disease and help the body recover from accidents and injuries.

It would be all too easy and admittedly, of some benefit, to go down to your local store and stock up on a range of juices. The issue that you face is a lack of knowledge about the origins of the juice you are drinking. Many producers of pre-processed juices will buy in stock that has been rejected for direct sale due to age or condition. You do not know if the produce has been exposed to pesticides, animal waste or even if some mold residue has found its way into the juice.

By far the better option is to either grow or select and buy your own organic fruit and vegetables for juicing. Mechanical juicers are efficient, reasonably inexpensive to buy and open up a whole world of possibilities and health benefits. There are many websites available that offer juicer reviews and free juicer recipes.

High juice yield vegetables include tomato, cucumber, celery, lettuce, spinach beets, cabbage, carrot, bell pepper, parsley, potato, onion, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower, dandelion greens, eggplant, zucchini and watercress. For fruits that are high in juice content you should try peach, pear, pineapple, grapes, melon, apricots, apples, cherries, plums, oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit.

Blending fruit juices together is perfectly possible as is the case with vegetable juices. In fact, creating a blend of fruit and vegetable juices can produce not only some fantastic flavours, but also some great health benefits. As a general rule you can use apples to sweeten up any blend of vegetable juices whilst adding carrots to fruit juice provides a nice complementary flavour. The answer is to approach the whole thing with a spirit of adventure and creativity. You may well end up with a gorgeous juice mix that tempts the whole family into sampling the health benefits of juicing.

Juicing vegetables rather than cooking them is a very quick and convenient way of getting their health enhancing nutrients into you. Preparation time with a mechanical juicer is minimal and a glass of juice consumed in five minutes at breakfast can give you back benefits such as increased energy and vitality that last the whole day through. Because you only need to prepare what you are about to consume, the juice will be fresh and will have lost none of its nutritional value either by being stored in the fridge or through the cooking process.

Juicing for health is a fun way of experimenting with flavours and combinations to come up with healthy recipes that help you to enhance the health of your family in a completely natural way. Why not either dust off that juicer that has been sat in the kitchen suffering from underuse, or look into getting hold of a fantastic modern juicing machine and get started on the road to health today?
