Devices for Video Calling
Video calling has been used by business for some years. It can be an important tool which allows companies to work together effectively without exceeding their travel budgets. Individuals have used video calling with loved ones who are away via their PC and Skype service. Now however, users are a bit less restricted.
Video calling can now be done using a variety of devices, the number of which is sure to increase in the next few years.
In recent months there have been a number of camera phones introduced which allow users to make video calls. A high speed network, the right application, and a front facing camera are the primary ingredients. The iPhone with it's Facetime app is only one example. HTC has a number of smartphones such as the EVO and Thunderbolt 4G models which can provide video calls as well. There are an increasing number of new phones rolling out with these features.
But smartphones aren't the only option. Certainly tablets are getting in on this communication trend. From the Motorola Xoom to the iPad 2 most of the more popular tabs allow video calling. Their large colorful screens certainly make them an attractive option for this.
But if portable communication isn't your biggest concern, then considering a television or BluRay player that provides this capability may be more to your liking. Video calling on a big screen would certainly be better for families or groups of people.
Many of the major manufacturers now offer selected intenet connected sets that include video calling capabilities. Sony Bravia, Panasonic Viera, and Samsung are some of the popular lines that offer this functionality.
Of course, using your PC is still an option and an affordable one at that if your budget isn't prepared for an upgrade to your other existing devices.
