This is the first installment of my new series called “Devin's Casting Call”, inspired by Wizard Magazine’s “Casting Call” a couple years ago. The point of their article was to cast future comic book movies with current A-List actors. Since the Avengers movie will be in theaters next year, I figured that this would be a great time to write a “Casting Call” for Avengers II.
According to IMDB, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Nick Fury and the Hulk have been cast but what about Avengers II? In this article, I have my own personal pick of Avengers that I would love to see cast in the future.
For the role of Ant-Man, which middle-aged A-list actor would be a better fit for the fair-haired scientist hero than Matt Damon? He has already proven that he is an action star in “the Bourne Identity” and has the perfect look for Ant-Man. All he needs now is a multiple personality disorder and a lab coat!
If we are following the trend of using likenesses from the Ultimate Universe like they did with Nick Fury being Black, then Wasp will be Asian. Lucy Liu has already proven that she is an action star in the “Charlie’s Angels” movies and if she cuts her hair shorter, she’ll be the spitting image of the hot Tinkerbell-like heroine.
Who better to play the egotistical hot-headed speedster known as Quicksilver, other than Orlando Bloom? He's athletic, a great actor and has already proven that he'll sport white hair in his role as Legolas in “Lord of the Rings”.
In order to fill the shoes of Scarlet Witch, we need an actress who is both mega hot and looks like she could hex the hell out of you: enter Megan Fox. Let's be serious, if you had a choice of who you wanted to see in a red corset, name the woman who you would put in front of this dark-haired, mysterious beauty.
When it comes to casting the role of Black Panther, Djimon Hounsou is the only actor that comes to mind. He is regal, intelligent, in amazing shape and get this... actually AFRICAN! If you can find the time to pry him away from Kimora Lee Simmons, toss him into the costume and let’s see this movie!
