Diabetes Foot Pain Relief

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

The rate of diabetes has been on the rise in the US for the last few decades. It is starting to reach epidemic proportions as more and more people are diagnosed with this potentially debilitating disease every day. Many people claim our current high carbohydrate low fiber diet has a lot to do with the number of Type II cases but that is still being studied. The fact is, if you have diabetes you need to learn how to treat the symptoms because at this time there is no cure.

Diabetes tends to affect the feet very early due to the circulatory problems associated with the disease. Diabetic foot pain can be one result from the slow done in the blood circulation in the extremities. There are pain medications that can be used to help with the pain but you also need to make physical changes that will help with the relief.

Socks for diabetics are specially designed to help relieve the terrible pain that is associated with the diabetes neuropthy or diabetes nerve damage as it is also known. These socks are constructed in a way and with materials that make the wearer much more comfortable. First they do not have a seam to irritate the skin because they are woven with a technique that allows the sock to be made in one piece. Next the top of the sock at the ankle is made larger than normal to stop any constriction. This constriction can result in further pain and also lead to swelling and fluid pooling in the feet. Third, these diabetes socks are made out of special material that allows the natural moisture in the foot to be removed. This helps the feet to stay dry and more comfortable and helps stop blisters and other sores.

If you have diabetes the care of your feet is very important. Over 70% or all foot amputations in the US are the result of diabetes complications. Many of these could have been averted if the patient would have known about methods to care for the feet and would have followed the procedures necessary. Along with the proper foot care, another import aspect of diabetic foot care is daily inspection of the feet. The nerve damage can mean that you may not feel blisters or other sores and these can quickly become infected which leads to potentially more serious problems such as amputation.

Taking care of the feet should be a number one concern for diabetics.
