Diet For GERD

Have you been looking into finding a diet for GERD? GERD, which stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease, could turn into something very serious, and you may be diagnosed if you are a victim of heartburn symptoms weekly or more often. Having heartburn often can cause your esophagus to scar in a severe manner which will make it harder to swallow because it becomes so thin.

1. Do Not Eat These Foods

There are certain foods that you should never consume if you are following a diet for GERD. These foods will, not only trigger heartburn, but make it more painful, including foods such as:

Chocolate - Anything made with cocoa may not agree with your stomach though your mouth and mind may tell you otherwise. Chocolate temptations like candy bars, cakes, brownies and ice cream should be avoided if you want your acid reflux to be kept at bay.

Liquor - Anything that contains alcohol you should avoid which will relieve your heartburn symptoms and will also come to be a preventative for liver issues in the future.

Caffeine - Staying away from caffeine is an important portion of every diet for GERD. Caffeine will make your stomach upset, no matter how much that coffee is part or your morning or evening routine.

2. Edible Foods

Eat foods that are natural, grown from the ground or unprocessed when it comes to foods that are compatible with your new acid reflux disease diet. These foods can include, but are not limited to, poultry, beef cuts that are lean, the whites of eggs or egg substitutes, whole grain carbohydrates such as steel cut oats, brown rice, and whole grain breads, vegetables, nuts and yams. If you would like to see a major improvement in your health, remember the list of foods to avoid and concentrate on clean eating of unprocessed foods.
