Disney's Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World

Disney's Contemporary Resort, located in Orlando, Florida, is a 650 plus room deluxe resort at Walt Disney World, and is situated next to the Magic Kingdom theme park on the 450 acre Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon.

Disney's Contemporary Resort is themed for a look and feel of contemporary and modernistic styling motifs, and was one of the first two resort hotels at Walt Disney World when it opened in 1971, with the other hotel being the Polynesian Resort. The hotel rooms and other areas within the hotel were completely renovated between 2005-2007, to bring the resort more into line with the changes in contemporary styling since 1971. It is also the only resort at Walt Disney World that has the monorail go directly through the lobby to pickup and drop off guests and visitors.

HOTEL and ROOMS

The Contemporary Resort consists of 650 plus rooms that are all lavishly appointed with contemporary and modernistic furnishings, while not being overbearing in its styling and color tones as it offers an inviting charm and warmth in each room that is sure to please the most discerning guest. The main tower houses over 500 rooms that have balconies overlooking Bay Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon, and some top floor rooms facing Seven Seas Lagoon have a view of the Magic Kingdom theme park. A small wing of the resort houses over 150 rooms that overlook Bay Lake, as well as balconies and patios.

Each room has televisions with satellite t.v., internet access (for a fee), hairdryer, in room safe, coffee maker, iron and ironing boards, newspaper delivery, dvd player (in some rooms), and much, much more.


The amenities available at the Contemporary Resort include a business center complete with a fax machine, copy machine, computers, as well as secretarial services, fitness center, laundry facilities, babysitting services, concierge services, room service, and plenty of accommodations for individuals with disabilities, from wheelchair accessible ramps and elevators, wheelchair accessible rooms and bathrooms.

CONVENTION CENTER

There is a 115,000 square foot convention center complete with a boardroom with conference table, internet access, and more, that can accommodate any size corporate meeting, graduations, wedding receptions, or any type of party or gathering.

AMENITIES

There are plenty of recreational activities in which to choose, such as an arcade, watercraft rentals, water sports (parasailing and water skiing), volleyball, fishing, Movie Under the Stars, shopping, and the must see and very popular Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake that is performed every night (with weather permitting of course).

DINING

When you get hungry, you do not have to go far as the Contemporary Resort houses several dining choices that are sure to please, such as Chef Mickey's offering American cuisine breakfast and dinner, Contempo Cafe offering American cuisine, Contemporary Grounds offering gourmet coffee, coffee drinks, and adult drinks, The Wave of American Flavors offering American cuisine and international dishes, as well as adult cocktails, the ever popular California Grill, that sits atop the Contemporary Resort offering spectacular Californian cuisine with expansive views of the Magic Kingdom theme park, and at night offers the best views of the Wishes fireworks show from the top of the resort. There are several lounges in which to relax and unwind in with your favorite beer or cocktail, as well as appetizers, such as the California Grill Lounge that is located next to the California Grill, The Sand Bar which is located next to the pool, the Cove Bar located next to the Bay Cave Pool, and the Outer Rim with wonderous views across Bay Lake.


TRANSPORTATION



If you plan on venturing outside of the resort, and who wouldn't, you can take a bus ride to the Disney Transportation and Ticket Center, or just hop on the monorail that makes a stop inside of the Contemporary Resort, with additional stops at the Magic Kingdom theme park, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Polynesian Resort, and of course the Disney Transportation and Ticket Center. You can also jump aboard a water taxi that can take you to the Wilderness Lodge, as well as the Magic Kingdom theme park, the Polynesian Resort, and the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

You can access all that Walt Disney World has to offer from a great location, and have plenty of activities to choose from for the whole family to enjoy, or that special someone as well.

All Disney's Deluxe Resorts offer the ultimate in luxury hotel accommodations at Walt Disney World,
that gives guests close proximity to any of the four theme parks, from lavishly appointed rooms, premier dining and shopping, as well as other activities, from golfing to tennis, and just about everything else that you can think of. So when you are thinking of visiting Walt Disney World, you might want to consider staying at one of the deluxe resorts for the a vacation that you will want to always remember. Although the prices can be a little high, you do get what you pay for during your stay, and that is the ultimate Walt Disney World experience.
