Disney's Value Resorts at Walt Disney World

By | Dec 21, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Walt Disney World, located in Orlando, Florida, not only offers guests a myraid of choices for entertainment, such as theme parks, water parks, world class golf courses, live shows, like Cirque du Soleil, fine dining, and much more. They also offer guests some of the finest hotel accommodations in Florida. Walt Disney World has 3 tiers for their hotels (Value, Moderate, and Deluxe), so that guests can choose a price that is comfortable and manageable for them.

Do not mistake the tiers as a scrimp on accommodations or service, as that is not the case, but rather Disney recognized the need to offer several price ranges that would allow any guest(s), no matter their financial standing, the ability and opportunity to stay on Disney property while on their trip.

For those looking to stay on Disney property, whether alone, as a couple, a family, or as a group, and are not wanting to spend a whole lot on hotel accommodations, yet still be in the middle of all that Walt Disney World has to offer, from location, price, and service, then Disney's Value Resorts are a perfect choice.

Disney's Value Resorts offer guests nearly all of the same amenities as the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts, but without the price. By the meaning of nearly all the same amenities as the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts, is that the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts offer casual (sit down and served food instead of a food court, Moderate Resorts do have a food court as well as casual dining) and upscale dining (in Deluxe Resorts), heated pools (no heated pools in the Value Resorts), larger rooms (though not much larger, but that depends upon the room you choose), centrally located resorts (that means closer to the theme parks and water parks and other activities, but that should not deter you), and nicer exteriors and interiors of the hotel (theming is more upscale as opposed to just a standard hotel look and feel as the Value Resorts have).

There is plenty of room for everyone, as well as plenty of activities to keep guests entertained and happy during their stay at Disney. Do not be mislead into thinking that the Value Resorts are not a good choice; quite the opposite, as the Value resorts offer guests the same exceptional Disney service, but at a much cheaper entry fee.

There are currently four Value Resorts located at Walt Disney World, the Pop Century Resort, the All-Star Movies Resort, the All-Star Music Resort, and the All-Star Sports Resort, with a fifth Value Resort scheduled to open in 2012 across Hourglass Lake from the Pop Century Resort, called Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Here is a quick breakdown of the four Value Resorts currently at Walt Disney World, and what you can expect when staying at one of these fine hotels.

POP CENTURY RESORT

Disney's Pop Century Resort is a 2,800 plus room resort, offering guests nicely appointed and themed rooms, whereas each room offers bright, warm and inviting colors, and is themed appropriately to coincide with its name. The resort is ideally located near the Epcot theme park, Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park, Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and Disney's Boardwalk, and sits against the beautiful Hourglass Lake, across from another future value resort, the nearly 1,900 room Disney's Art of Animation Resort, that is scheduled to open in 2012.

The Pop Century Resort is themed after decades of American pop culture, from the 1950's through the 1990's. The resort is split into sections (decades) and each building, set in a motel style setting, features items iconic of that particular decade, and represented in gigantic fashion, but not tasteless in any way, such as a huge jukebox (in the picture above), 45 records, and more from the 1950's. Hippie flowers, peace sign, and more from the 1960's. 8-track tape staircases, a giant Mickey Mouse phone, and more from the 1970's. A giant Rubik's cube, Michael Jackson, Pac-Man, and more from the 1980's. A giant laptop, giant cell phone staircases, hip-hop, and more from the 1990's.

The All-Star Music Resort is themed after the classic music genre, and include Broadway show tunes, Calypso, Country, Jazz, and Rock n' Roll. The resort consists of 5 pairs of 3 story buildings, and each section is themed with giant figures from one of the 5 respective classic music genres mentioned, with larger than life musical instruments and pieces to correspond with their musical attachments and genre.

The All-Star Music Resort is the smallest of all the value resorts (in total rooms available), and is the only value resort at Walt Disney World that offers family suites (that sleep up to 6 guests, whereas the other value resorts sleep up to 4 guests).

ALL-STAR SPORTS RESORT

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort is a 1,900 plus room resort offering guests nicely appointed and themed rooms, whereas each room offers bright, warm and inviting colors, and is themed appropriately to coincide with its name. The resort is ideally located near the Animal Kingdom theme park and Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The Home Run Hotel section features a large glove, a large baseball bat, a large baseball, and more. The Hoops Hotel section features a large basketball, a large net, and more. The Touchdown! section features a large football, a large helmet, and more. The Surfs Up! section features a large surfboard, large flip flops, and more. The Center Court section features a large tennis ball, a large tennis racket, and more.

AMENITIES

All rooms at the Value Resorts have high speed internet access (for a fee), television with cable t.v., in room safe, hairdryer, iron with ironing board, and more.

There are several other amenities at the resort that include laundry facilities, a concierge desk, babysitting services, self parking, and plenty of accommodations for individuals with disabilities, from handicap parking spaces to wheelchair accessible rooms and bathrooms.

RECREATIONAL AMENITIES

If you are not wanting to venture out into the theme parks, or any of the other myriad of fun things to do at Walt Disney World, and/or just wanting to relax at the resort and find some activities to do there; then the Value Resorts have you covered with a huge assortment of family friendly recreational activities from which to choose from, such as bike rentals, jogging trails, an arcades, playgrounds, pools (all pools at the Value Resorts have a wonderful theme and are must to see and visit), as well as specialty cruises available for charter (the specialty cruises are available at select resorts, and the Values Resorts do not offer any specialty cruises, although reservations can be made at the resorts).

DINING

When you get hungry, the Value Resorts have their own giant themed food courts, and offer guests a plethora of food choices from which to choose from, especially since most people have different cravings and tastes. The food courts offers American cuisine, such as breakfast items, burgers and fries, chicken, pasta, pizza, and more, as well as drinks and desserts. The food courts also sell the re-fillable mugs (only to be used at the resort you are staying at, and are also available at the resorts stores as well), and is a great choice for those looking to save even more money, as guests pay a one-time fee for the mug and can re-fill at any one of the drink stations in the food court, as many times as they want during their stay.

Guests who feel like eating off of the resort property, while still staying within the Walt Disney World resort, there is a very large McDonald's restaurant just a short drive away from the All-Star Movies Resort, the All-Star Music Resort, and the All-Star Sports Resort, that offers all the usual McDonald's menu items, along with a huge screen t.v. (it is actually multiple screens that are combined) that shows Disney movies and Disney-Pixar movies while you eat, and is a perfect way to keep the kiddies occupied while you order, or you can just go through the drive-thru and order. Just a reminder though, and being that the restaurant is huge, they are extremely busy, all of the time. There are more registers than the usual McDonald's restaurant has, so that is a good thing, and they move the customers out rather quickly. They are also pricier than the neighborhood McDonald's, although not by much, especially depending on where you live, where the prices may be higher than here. The Pop Century Resort is a little farther to drive to get to the McDonald's, since the resort is not next to the other three Value Resorts.

SHOPPING

All Value Resorts have quick shopping available, and are located next to the main lobby and registration, and offers guests basically everything that they could need and/or want, from Disney merchandise, such as collectables and shirts, to basic vacation necessities, such as toothpaste and snacks, and much, much more.

PARKING

As with all Disney resorts, and the Value Resorts being no exception, they offer plenty of self-parking, as well as plenty of parking for those with disabilities. Unfortunately the Value Resorts do not offer valet parking at this time.

TRANSPORTATION

The Value Resorts offer bus service (available only at the front of the resorts), and free to all guests staying on the property, to all that Walt Disney World has to offer. All the buses and stops are clearly marked and run usually every 10-20 minutes (depending upon the season) to their respective destinations, and are the best and fastest way to get around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney's Value Resorts offer guests wonderful accommodations, plenty of recreational activities, extremely budget friendly pricing, great locations, along with an assortment of amenities that will satisfy any guest, and the best part is, it is all inside of the Walt Disney World Resort, and all at a great value, hence the resorts distinction, Disney's Value Resorts. If you have a large group or large family, and on a tight budget, then a Disney Value Resorts are a great choice for those wanting the best that Disney has to offer, from location, price, and of course, the famous Disney serv
