Dixie Stampede Pigeon Forge

By Edited May 4, 2016 1 2

Dixie Stampede, located in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, is a family attraction that combines dinner and a show. It is located very close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Dollywood amusement park. It is a great place to visit if you are traveling or vacationing in Tennessee. Dixie Stampede is owned by Dolly Parton, a famous American country and western singer and actress, who also owns other businesses in the area, including Dollywood.

Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction bills itself as "The Most Fun Place to Eat!" A four-course dinner is served while watching a live show. It has arena-styled seating that circles a ring, very similar to a rodeo setup or a circus setup, with the addition of a place in front of the patron to eat. The shows include live music, comedy, animal acts, and pyrotechnics.

Most of the acts are western-themed, with farm animals such as horses, longhorns, and pigs. Cowboys and cowgirls perform stunts and tricks while riding the horses. There is a longhorn stampede and funny pig races. Ostrich races have been part of the show too, which is interesting. A fun aspect of the show is that they get audience members involved, so people in the audience have a chance to become part of the show. Another theme of the show is competition between the North and the South, which is done with good humor. There is also a pre-show act that can be viewed if you would like to arrive early. The pre-shows range from music to comedy.

The food is good, and there is a lot of it! A whole rotisserie chicken and pork loin is served along with soup, corn on the cob, potatoes, and dessert. The drinks are limited to water, tea, soda and coffee, and there are unlimited refills. Something to take note of is that the children are served the same dinner as the adults (yes, even the same portions!), so keep that in mind if you have children that are picky eaters. Dixie Stampede offers an alternative vegetarian dinner as well.

There are shows every day and it is open year round, since it is an indoor show. Ticket prices include the cost of the main event, the pre-show, and dinner. If you are planning on visiting Dixie Stampede, make sure you book early because shows can sell out quickly. This is especially true with the Christmas shows, so check the website for times and make sure to get your seat! If you aren't going to be in the Tennesse area, there are also Dixie Stampedes located in Branson, Missouri and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so make sure to check it out if you are in the area.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner and Show is an action-packed and fun-filled extravaganza that everyone should experience. It is perfect for families, friends and groups of any size!
