By Edited Aug 10, 2015 1 0

If you can really love what you do every day, then you will have reached a goal that few people have achieved. Can you say that you enjoy getting out of bed and going to work? Is this something you look forward to?

Or is just another day at the office. You may come home after spending your couple of hours in your little office cubicle and eat and get some sleep before doing it all over again. On the weekend you may look forward to a game of golf or spending time with your children.

We seem to accept this life, but people who have broken away and have seen the light at the end of the tunnel with their money making hobbies have seen a massive transformation within their lives.

Good Money Making Hobbies

If you are confident that you know a lot about a certain things and you have a big interest in it, then it can only grow. This is nothing that is new. It is not a business idea, which you think may be able to sell. So much of the time we think of things to sell, which we are not interested in at all, and this makes it quite tough.

Obviously if your hobby is so way out that it only interests you, or a small sector of the market then this is not a very good way to start off, but if you have been doing something long enough, got involved with other people who are doing the same thing, joined clubs then this is already your research done.

Here are a few examples

  • Teaching – if you are a teacher then there are countless opportunities out there. You can combine this with another hobby like a musical instrument. If you enjoy some sort of sport then you could start something for kids in your area.

A teacher can travel around the world and find opportunities wherever she or he may go because at the end of the day, everyone is hungry to be educated in some way.

  • Arts and Crafts – there are tons of people wanting to learn a specific craft and joining in on a group is a fantastic way to learn from others and have that group vibe going.

How to be a successful entrepreneur

A successful entrepreneur will have a certain quality, characteristic and personality trait about them. Of course this varies according to the individual, but generally there is a certain drive about the person.

Self – motivation

There is nobody telling you what to do anymore. You are now your own boss and it is up to you how you use your time. There is no time for procrastination in this game. Successful internet entrepreneurs have stuck to their guns and persevered. They have seen their web sites grow from strength to strength, and this is what it takes.

Are You a People Person?

You should be able to get on with people in general, having to deal with people in terms of customers, suppliers and staff on a daily basis. There are entrepreneurs who do very well for themselves and they are not terribly social, but it does definitely help your business. When you put the customer first it always leaves a good impression.

Delegate work

It is impossible to do everything yourself, unless you are a small business entrepreneur, and even then you will still have a personal life to attend do. It’s best to set your priorities straight. Focus on what is essential and those items that need to get done as well, but are less important you can assign to members of your staff or whoever is helping you.

Time management workplace

Here again, a procrastinator is not a desirable personality trait amongst entrepreneurs. Once your business and marketing plans have been worked through it’s time to get the show on the road. Running your own business does not involve sitting on a desert island with a cell phone in your hand to keep in touch with your staff. It is hard work.

Small Business Bookkeeping

You don’t have to have a degree in accounting, but it is handy to know a little bit about adding up the dollars and the cents. This especially applies if you are just starting out and what to keep your budget as low as possible. It is essential to organize all your documents. Any successful business entrepreneur will tell you this.

It’s important to be able to multitask in any business. Lots of things will be happening on a daily basis and you can’t focus your attention on just one area. If someone phones to place an order you can’t tell them to phone back because you are busy with a staff issue because they won’t! If you can't handle this, you need to employ extra staff.

Set goals for yourself. If shops and customers are not buying your products or your service, don't just give up. So many people spend money on a new business and expect to make a million in the first few months, but so often you will need a lot more patience and the ability to persevere if it does not succeed the first time.

Willing to learn

People who are open-minded and are willing to take advice from someone who might be offering it will be more likely to succeed. Someone of a stubborn nature with an ego who thinks their idea is the only way to go might not be as successful. When you start a new business you will be learning something new everyday.

Gaining Self-Confidence

All entrepreneurs need some level of confidence in order for their business to grow. You should be able to believe in your product or service and then promote it to a store or a company with confidence. You should be able to tell them why or what you have is so much better than any of your competitors, and why they should buy or invest in it.

What Else?

Things like pottery, scrapbooking, decoupage, printing, fabric painting, soap making, paper making and the list goes on. You could also sell your wares at craft markets and festivals, which is how a lot of people make money. If you want to make money from hobbies without a big start up cost or market research then this is the best place to start.

make money blogging

  • Workshops – If you know a lot about certain subject you could organize a workshop where you would teach people who want to know the specifics about something. This could be over a couple of days or a weekend.

Something that comes to mind is gardening. This is just one area where someone will know a lot about. They may have been doing this for years, every weekend and this is the time to start sharing and demonstrating. You could teach people about a certain sector like vegetable planting or sunflowers. This is a great way to bring in a lot of income.

  • Sell your arts and crafts in the finished form to shops. This may seem daunting at first, but word travels in the community and once you find a way get the word on the street you will be making some money.
  • Specializing in certain type of product like aromatherapy candles or a special type of organic soap or your own branded cushion covers which are all fabric painted. This is a good way to go.

Marketing and Advertising

There are always costs involved with this and it is true that big firms will spend thousands of dollars getting to know who the customers is. However, there are definitely cheaper ways of doing this when you are learning how to make money from hobbies.

You just have to put in the effort. Have a look at your competition to see whether there are products that are similar to yours. You may want to adapt and become that much more unique.

Stack up a couple of hundred surveys which would relate to your product and have people fill these out so you get a better understanding of who your customers will be and therefore you will know who to sell to. I did say it takes more effort! There are lots of places where you can network, both online and offline.
