Does Your Home Have Curb Appeal?

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Even though the exterior of your home is the first thing people see, many homeowners don't do enough to add curb appeal to their homes. While they may spend tons of time and money making the interior look wonderful, they overlook a way to add value to their homes. There are lots of things that can make a difference in the exterior of your home, so lets take a look at some of them.

When you are familiar with something you often don't notice details. That makes it harder to look critically at what needs to be done, but if you try looking at separate parts instead of the whole it can sometimes be easier. For instance as you approach your diveway, what do you see. As you walk to the ffront door what do you see.

Write down anything that is in obvious need of repair and attack those things first. Also make a note of anything that you think detracts from your home and also the things that add to your homes curb appeal. For instance many times the outside part of the central air unit can be an eyesore, you might want to make it less obvious with fencing or landscaping.

After completing needed repairs, you can move on to the spruce up part which is lots more fun. Work first to eliminate the things that you feel detract from your homes curb appeal. Putting forth the time and effort to add a fresh coat of paint in an updated color can work wonders.

If your established landscape plants are not adding to the beauty of your home, consider removing them and starting over again. While landscaping can be expensive, it also can make a huge impact. Foundation shrubs that are overgrown or planted to close to your home, do nothing for your home.

You also want your home to look nice after dark, so don't overlook your outdoor, porch and patio lights. If your existing lighting is lacking you probably want to add additional fixtures for both safety and accent lighting. Patio wall lights are a nice way to accent an attractive feature of your home and add lots of after dark curb appeal.

If you have ignored your homes exterior, it is time to make sure that the outside of your home looks just as good as the inside. Take the time to carefully consider what adds to the beauty of your home and what doesn't and take the steps to add some curb appeal to your home.
