Dog Allergy Symptoms
Dog allergy symptoms are usually associated with your dog starting to eat a lot more than usual or concentrating its itching efforts in just one particular spot on its body. Just the same way that we humans can get allergies to certain things, your dog is also capable of developing allergic reactions, usually for the same reasons. Dog food is the primary cause of dog allergy symptoms. But there are also causes in the environment, such as biological elements or chemical causes in your home or backyard.
So, what kind of things should you be watching out for, what are the first signs of dog allergy symptoms. Unfortunately, your dog has no way of actually telling you that he is having a problem. Some dog will try to make a valiant attempt at communicating with you that they are having some sort of problem. So you really have to try to take notice of changes in your dog's behavior to see if he is showing any signs of dog allergy symptoms. These are not really hard to spot. As I said before, one of the most common dog allergy symptoms is for the dog to be scratching a lot. Your dog could also be having some hair loss, dry skin, it could be vomiting, or having other digestive problems (farting too much).
A lot of the dog allergy problems can be traced back to what you are feeding your dog. This is similar in human beings who can also show allergies for food, such as milk allergy symptoms. It is common practice to feed an animal from food which is left over from the family table. Although there is no real harm done feeding a dog the same food that is eaten by humans, a lot of people take this to the extreme. For instance some people actually feet the scraps of food that they would never eat, such as the huge chunks of fat that has been cut off meat to lighten the calorie load. Your dog needs vitamins and minerals just like you do. It will also put on weight because it is eating the wrong types of food just like you do. So why would you feed an animal on your rejected food. You are not only going to see bad dog allergy symptoms because of feeding a dog on this type of diet, you are also giving your dog weight and health issues into the bargain. Anyway, if your dog is showing dog allergy symptoms the first thing you should do is to change its diet. You can buy food which is specifically designed for those with allergies. But you must stop feeding the animal from your table. You cannot get to the bottom of a dog allergy problem if you do not attempt to deal with the problem in a systematic way.
A lot of the time, changing the dog food is all going to be trial and error. You might have to go through several different brands of dog food before you find one that is suitable for your particular hound. If the symptoms persist then you should take your dog to see the veterinarian. This is because there are microscopic pests that can cause biological dog allergy symptoms, and ordinary household objects which can result in chemical dog allergy symptoms. Your veterinarian will be able to prescribe a course of antibiotics or other appropriate treatment in order to alleviate the dog allergy symptoms.
