Double duvet covers can help to transform a boring and blah space into a fabulous bedroom sanctuary without spending a fortune in the process.

For children's rooms, guest rooms or teen's rooms, double duvet covers are available in a dizzying array of patterns, prints and fabrics. By simply changing out the old bedding by covering an existing down or other style comforter, a room can suddenly come to life fresh new look.

Double duvet covers fit comforters that are made for full or double sized beds. Since this size bed is normally not in master bedrooms, they're often used to cover comforters in kids' rooms and guestrooms. To give the room's new look a more cohesive and decorative touch, the covers are often sold in sets and with two standard matching pillow shams and a bedskirt or dust ruffle. When not sold in sets, double duvet covers often have matching coordinates that can be purchases separately. These separates may have the same pattern or print as the duvet cover or may have a coordinating print or pattern. Some separates that may be available are throw pillows, throw blankets, window coverings, dust ruffles, tailored bed skirts and sheet sets. Some duvet covers even have matching bathroom accessories.

Double duvet covers are an easy, budget friendly, and beautiful way to refresh and renew a bedroom. Since many are made of washable cotton or other washable fabrics, they're easily removed and cleaned unlike the comforters they protect. For kids' rooms it's best to avoid duvets with beading and other embellishments that may prevent ease of washing at home and instead, require dry cleaning.

When choosing the right duvet for your needs, it's important to consider fabric as well as look. For guest rooms that won't get a lot of use, silks and other fabrics that require dry cleaning are okay. For rooms that will get daily use, consider also fade resistant fabrics to keep the duvet cover looking it's best. Also, consider color. If the comforter under the double duvet cover is a dark or bold color, it may show through a white or pastel duvet.

For the most varied selection in double duvet covers, start your shopping online. Prices usually start at around $30 for a basic cotton duvet and depending on designer, style and fabric, can be as much as $200 and up. Many online retailers offer discounted or free shipping which makes internet shopping more convenient than ever.
