Drinking Water for Weight Loss

By Edited Jul 17, 2016 0 0

There are many different weight loss tips out there provided by gurus who guarantee that you will be able to lose as much weight as you want if you simply do one thing. Whether that one thing is using their product, taking their pill, or eating only one particular thing, there is something wrong with all of these plans. It is not reasonable to ask someone to restrict themselves so tightly for so long a time and still manage to live a full, happy life. The tip that this article concerns is not going to guarantee you miracle success, but it will help to support whatever weight loss efforts you are already making. What is the tip, exactly? Drink water.

That's it. Drink plenty of water every day. Ideally, you would also replace any other beverage that you may be consuming, save a cup or two of black coffee in the morning, with fresh, clean water. It may seem like a small step and not really worth the effort, but there are a few reasons why drinking water every day can help you to lose weight.

The first benefit to drinking water for weight loss involves what is known as calorie replacement. When you are only drinking water, that means that you are not drinking other things, such as fancy coffees, soda pop, or juice. That means that you are effectively eliminating these liquid calories from your diet. Again, it may not seem like much, but when you consider that one can of soda pop can contain 150 to 200 calories, that will certainly add up over time. Since your body does not recognize these calories when determining whether you are "full" or not, they can add up very quickly.

The second reason that water is highly beneficial for weight loss is that it can be difficult for many people to differentiate between being hungry and being thirsty. This may seem odd, but the next time you are feeling hungry, drink a full glass of water instead and wait twenty minutes. You may be surprised to find out that after the water has settled into your stomach, you are no longer hungry. This can also be beneficial in that drinking before meals can help curb your appetite and help you to eat less.

While no one is going to promise that the key to how to lose 30 pounds is simply drinking water, it is certain that drinking water is highly beneficial to those who are losing weight. It not only reduces the amount of calories that you consume, but it can also help to keep your appetite down in the first place. Aim for 50 to 64 ounces of water per day when you are trying to lose weight, spread out throughout the day.
