If you are tired of fighting drug addiction, then you need to read this article to avoid the most common mistakes addicts make when evaluating a drug treatment center.

Learn that the best drug treatment center is one that offers safe drug detox, intense in patient counseling and group therapy and an extensive aftercare program.Only by avoiding the most common mistakes in selecting a drug treatment center, will you stand a chance of overcoming your drug addiction.

Mistake No. 1:Selecting An Inadequate Or Understaffed Drug Detox Program

The detoxification phase of the drug treatment is the most important and the most dangerous part of your addiction recovery.

As such, a good drug detox program should include a complete medical evaluation and proper staffing to ensure that the patient handles the withdrawal safely. An extensive medical examination will identify the substances so that you will know what to expect during withdrawal.

Properly trained medical personnel will respond to emergencies and keep you as safe as possible during this part of the drug rehabilitation process.

Mistake No. 2:Ignoring Individual And Group Therapy Programs

Group therapy is the most important type of support for you as a drug addict.

Therapy helps you to verbalize emotions and become comfortable communicating your feelings to others. In therapy, you will likely establish bonds and relationships that may be the basis of a support group after you are discharged.

Mistake #3:Ignoring Aftercare Treatment

Successful drug intervention centers require and provide closely supervised aftercare once you leave addiction treatment.

You should continue to have access to counselors and group therapy support once you leave treatment. The drug treatment center should find a support group that will provide you with group therapy and accountability.

In addition, you should continue to have access to psychologists and medical personnel in the event of a relapse.

A drug treatment center should provide you with the assistance you need to get the drugs out of your system and intense counseling and group therapy to keep you clean and sober for a lifetime.

Great advice. As an ex-drug and alcohol counselor and a recovering heroin addict I feel strongly that medications should be used to help with the detox process. I wanted the people to stay, but as soon as the anxiety set in, off they went. When I got the hospital to change protocol and prescribe benxos and other meds, my little addicts went on to get 1, 5 10+ years clean.
