Comforters tend to be thicker and fluffier blankets. Comforters tend to have no embroidery but are either dyed or feature some sort of decorated material. Comforters are usually quite fluffy as the result of being stuffed with synthetic fillers. Most people don't put covers on comforters as you can just throw them in the wash to clean them.

A duvet is a comforter that is filled with
sheepskin wool or down feathers. Duvet's typically come in a number of off white colors including beige and white. A Sheepskin
Wool Duvet will cost you between $100-200 while synthetic duvets will be cheaper but less comfortable. Duvet blankets should be placed within a duvet cover as duvet's don't hold up well when washed.
What is a Duvet Cover?
Duvet covers offer protection for your Duvet by providing a washable cover that can easily be removed and tossed in the washing machine. The down and wool normally contained within Duvet covers can easily be damaged if washed making duvet covers an absolute necessity. Another nice thing about duvet covers is it makes it very easy to change the look and style of your bedroom linens. Changing the rooms look takes as little as a new duvet cover to spice things up!
