What's the Difference Between the DC65 Multi Floor and DC65 Animal?

Are you interested in investing in the brand new Dyson powerhouse vacuum cleaner, the Dyson DC65, however are unsure whether to invest in the multi floor or animal  version & what the differences are between them? If so, this DC65 multi floor vs animal comparison guide will be able to help you out.

Quick Answer: the only real significant differences that occurs between the two versions of the DC65 is what bundle of accessories come with each (discussed in detail below) -- the DC65 Animal comes with an extra pet hair turbine tool as well as a soft dusting brush tool that the multi floor doesn't. This is what explains the difference in price between the DC65 mutli floor and DC65 Animal (of about $100). The only other minor variation, which you will have likely noticed, is the colored finish of the two vacuums -- the DC65 multi floor is in all silver whereas the DC65 animal comes in a purple mesh.

The Difference in Accessories & Attachments

The DC65 multi floor is the basic model of the DC65 that comes with the standard set of accessories which includes: the combination tool -- which is a crevice tool that can be used for vacuum tight gaps and areas that also has the ability to double up with the brush nozzle that it has attached for high powered dusting. You also get the stair tool that it comes with, a sharp edged attachment that is perfect for vacuuming horizontally and vertically -- a truly great piece of equipment for when it comes to vacuuming stairs. Then with the upgraded DC65 Animal you get both the combination tool as well as the stair tool (like the multi floor version does) but you also get the following: the soft dusting brush tool -- a specially designed brush that has super fine & long bristles attached around the surface of the head to intricately remove microscopic dust particles from delicate surfaces (e.g. tv monitors, ornaments). Allowing you to clean without fear of scratching.

The other major tool is the highly regarded & universally loved by pet owners: tangle free turbine tool which is the most sophisticated & pretty much 'all round' pet hair pick up attachment around. It works on two counter-rotating heads, a completely unique design to Dyson which means it never gets clogged and has highly effective at picking up hair on any surface. A 'must have' for those who have a pet hair issue in their house.

You might have heard of the Dyson DC65 Animal complete too. Find out more here. Where it comes with an arsenal of an additional 8 cleaning attachments -- the ultimate vacuum cleaning machine for tackling pet hair and cleaning both hardwood floors & carpets.

Which Version of the DC65 Should You Buy Multi Floor or Animal?

Obviously the reason for the difference in versions is that one is designed for those without pet hair issues in their house & hence don't need the extra tangle free turbine (and if they want the soft dusting brush tool, you can actually buy that separately) and the other animal is for those with a pet hair problem and that's why it comes with the tangle free pet hair tool (to solve that issue). Hence, if you have a pet, go with the animal and if not get the multi floor.

This being said, the tangle free turbine tool doesn't only serve to clean 'just' pet hair, it is very versatile and is extremely handy for when it comes to cleaning stairways as well as the inside of cars -- any real intricate jobs. Certainly something to consider.

As you can see this is the only difference to be had between the two versions of the DC65, one isn't more powerful than the other (both are fitted with 245 AW of constant suction power, have the re-configured motorized brush and can ultimately clean better than any other vacuum on the market) and have the same practical specifications too (with a 0.55 gallon bin capacity and extended reach of over 50 ft).
