E-readers Are They a Waste of Money and a Scam?

By Edited Apr 24, 2015 0 1

Some people are addicted to gadgets and they will buy anything for the sake of owning one. E-readers are not new but they still beckon the question, is an e-reader a waste of money or even a scam. If you have worked hard to earn your minimum wage, the last thing you want to do is give it away for free(buying a useless appliance). What about those who are not avid readers but who will still like to buy an e-reader? Well you have to say it does look groovy (sounds strange) to pull out your e-reader when everyone is flick through their books. That is a groovy thing that will cost you more than $100. Maybe that is nothing if you have a very deep bank account.

Are e-readers worth the money?

It all depends on what your priorities in life are. If you really want something, it is always possible to convince yourself that you really need it. Let us look at the basic idea behind an e-reader. If you need one because you travel a lot, you might have convinced yourself that an e-reader will allow you to carry multiple books at the same time. Ask yourself the question, how many books do you read on every journey? If you only read one, why do you need an e-reader just because you want to read a single book? What if you are an avid reader and can devour a book in a couple of days? If you are not going into exile, what is the point of buying an e-reader? Well do these arguments, suggests that it is not worth the money to buy an e-reader? That is not what this is about. If you want to buy an e-reader because you have heard about the hype, just buy an e-reader and don't try to justify your action. You basically cannot.

Is buying an e-reader a scam?

If it is a gift and you are really making good use of your e-reader, you have not been scammed. In general, buying an e-reader is not a scam. It is more like a marketing ploy with a lot of hype surrounding the product. The idea or an e-reader is quite interesting. The marketing behind the product is well thought out. Your reason for buying an e-reader is based probably on emotions rather than facts and needs. At the end of the day, if you feel that the product you bought is money well spent, you have not been scammed. The same goes for the e-reader, if you are happy, you have not been scammed.

Which one is the best?

There is nothing like which e-reader is the best. Some people have argued that the best thing is to buy the new iPad and use it as an e-reader. Others have said that an iPod touch is just as good. If you want to find out the best e-reader, you need to shop around and think about what you want to do with your appliance. Don't base the decision to buy on product reviews. Check on ebay to see why others are trying to sell theirs. That might give you an idea of what to expect from your e-reader
