Online surveys have been a hot topic over the past several years. There are websites and online ads that claim you can make a lot of money just by sitting at home in your pajamas all day and answer questions. Some are free, and some want fees paid upfront. It is difficult to determine which of these sites are legitimate and which are scams, and which will actually pay money.
The online survey site I would like to review is e-rewards. It is an online survey site that has been around for more than 10 years and is a legitimate site that rewards their members for taking surveys. They do not pay in cash; however they deposit money into an account that can be redeemed with many vendors.
How e-rewards works
To become a member of e-rewards, you first need to create an account. It is completely free to join; they don't ask for any kind of payment, bank account information, credit card information, etc. However, in order to join, you have to first be invited. To do this you have to be a member of one of e-reward's partners. Most of them are free to join. They include most airline and hotel chains, and some retail stores such as Macy's and Border's Books. Then there are questions that you answer about yourself, your interests, your habits, etc. This helps e-rewards to determine which online surveys will apply to you. Without this information, you will be bombarded with online surveys that will only waste your time and won't allow you to earn any reward money. Based on this information, e-rewards will send you emails that let you know which surveys are available and when. You have an option in your account to determine how much or how little email you would like to receive.
One of the greatest benefits of becoming an e-rewards member is the number of vendors they partner with that you can redeem your rewards with, with their largest category being in travel and lodging. The travel category includes major airlines that allow e-reward members to redeem their earnings for frequent flyer miles. Members can also redeem their earnings for points toward hotel rooms at major hotel chains. Other categories include retail stores such as Macy's and Nieman Marcus, magazine subscriptions, and discounts at food-related vendors such as Omaha Steaks. I have been a member of e-rewards for about 5 years now and have taken the online surveys almost exclusively for my Continental OnePass frequent flyer mile program.
The type of online survey varies greatly, and so does how much can be earned for each survey. Usually the shorter surveys earn less, while the longer and more detailed surveys earn more. Sometimes after you begin a survey and answer a few general questions, the survey will determine that you are not an appropriate candidate for that particular survey. What is a nice perk is that e-rewards will usually still deposit a small amount into your account just for taking the time to try to answer the survey.
If you have always wanted to try online surveys but have been a little wary of them, give e-rewards a shot. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain!
