Earbuds Headphones
Headphones have become a normal part of our lives since it was released for public purchase. It is not surprising that many headphones nowadays are now evolving to a newer, more convenient form. Earbuds headphones are designed to fit snugly in the ear, giving a touch of comfort to it. However, it is also because of this that your earwax has a high chance to accumulate in your headset.
The earwax is basically a natural secretion product of the ear. This substance, scientifically known as cerumen helps in the lubrication and defense of the ear against water and foreign objects such as insects. However, the wax may also work its way down inside your noise canceling earbud headphones causing permanent damage to it.
Surveys reveal that earbud headsets are one of the easiest headphone models to get broken. Because of its flimsy framework, the product has low endurance against the elements. However, cleaning your earbuds regularly will make sure that it will work longer optimally due to the prevention of wax entering your earbud headphone. Simple steps on how to do it are listed below:
Detatch your earbud headset from your iPod or other mp3 player. Disconnecting your earbud headphones will allow you to clean your earphones better by minimizing distraction and bulkiness, leading to more thorough cleaning.
After disconnecting your headset from your mp3, get a piece of cotton swab and dampen its tip with water. Dampening it to the point where the cotton gets dripping wet will surely not help. You need just the right amount to avoid dripping water from getting into your headphone unit. Typically, electronic and magnetic gadgets like your earbuds headphones get damaged once its circuits get exposed to water, so be careful.
Rub the surface of your earbuds with the damp tip of your cotton swab. For those areas which are exceptionally dirty, apply gentle pressure on them. Dried wax is very difficult to remove especially if you are cleaning plastic surface. Because of this, the pressure applied through rubbing will help facilitate its removal. If the hard wax gets really hard to remove, the use of olive oil may be recommended as it helps in the softening of the wax and grime.
A few additional tips and cautions: old and dry toothbrushes can be used to remove the dried wax and grime on the surface. For those hard-to-reach areas like the speaker grills of your earbuds headphones, an old and thin pin may do. This is for picking out those lines of dirt that had accumulated through time. Isopropyl alcohol can also be used as a substitute for water.
If you are suspecting that water, alcohol or oil had gone into your headphone set, it is advisable that you leave it in an area and wait for it to dry until he can play about it.
