Easy, Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe
Don't be put off by the last ingredient in this cake, it's the secret that makes this chocolate cake have more moisture than any cake you'll ever bake. Truly a simple recipe, calling for ingredients that you probably have right in your pantry.
2- cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 -cup white granulated sugar
4 to 5 tblsp. cocoa baking powder
1- tsp. baking soda
1- tsp. vanilla extract
1 -tblsp. baking powder
1 -cup COLD water
1 -cup mayonnaise (Kraft or Hellmans)
Sift the dry ingredients, add COLD water, mayonnaise and vanilla extract. Mix well to blend. No need for an electric mixer, just whip it really well.
Pour into a greased and lightly floured 9x13 or 10x14 inch cake pan. Or if you prefer 2 round cake pans, works well for a layer cake as well. Just adjust baking time, should only take 30 to 35 minutes. Always do the toothpick test.
Bake 45 mins. at 350 degrees
Frost with butter cream or cream cheese icing.
I prefer either Hellmann's or Kraft to any other mayo for this cake. I've tried the store brand and cost cutter types in this chocolate cake, they just don't give the best end result.
