Easy Cake Recipes That Are Healthy (But Don't Taste Like It!)

Take one box of any brand spice cake mix and instead of adding the usual ingredients (e.g. eggs, oil, etc.) just add one can of pumpkin pie filling (found in the baking aisle of your local grocery store). Bake as usual according to the instructions listed on the box. It looks great as a bundt cake and for great presentation, sift powdered sugar on top after it cools.

Take one box of any angel food cake mix and instead of adding the usual ingredients (e.g. eggs, oil, etc.) just add one can of crushed pineapple with juices. Bake as usual according to the instructions listed on the box. Again, you can bake in whatever container you would like for a refreshing summer dessert. I have not tried it yet, but this would be an easy recipe to try with other fruit substitutions (just make sure to replace with a canned fruit that includes the juice).

I don't have the nutritional value available, but by replacing the typically unhealthy ingredients (like oil) you are already on the right track to making the cakes better for you and these types of "substitutions" are recommended by all the weight-loss information out there. To make sure to stay on the "healthy" track, stick to the correct portion when eating the desserts by checking the serving size on the cake mix. Enjoy!
