Easy Snack Mix Recipes

Mixes are some of the fastest and easiest snacks around! There are literally hundreds of snack mix recipes. Maybe these ones will inspire you to try them, or to create some of your own!

Hickory BBQ Snack Mix
-3 cups rice Chex cereal
-3 cups wheat Chex cereal
-1 1/2 cups bite sized pretzels
-1 1/2 cups bite sized cheese crackers
-3/4 cup honey roasted peanuts
-1/2 cup hickory smoked barbecue sauce
-1 Tablespoon canola or olive oil
-3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
-3/4 teaspoon onion powder

Mix the cereals, pretzels, crackers and peanuts in a large, microwavable bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients well.

Pour this over the cereal mix and combine thoroughly. Microwave on high for 7 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Spread out on paper towels until cooled completely, and store it in an airtight container.

Quick Cheesy Chex Mix
-5 Tablespoons butter or margarine
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-6 cups of Chex cereal (your choice of flavors)
-1/3 cup parmesan cheese

Melt the butter in a large skillet. Stir in the salt and add the cereal. Stir until well coated. Continue to stir for an additional five minutes. Spread out on paper towels until cooled completely, and store in an airtight container.

CrockPot (Slow Cooker) Snack Mix Recipes
-2 cups pretzels (small ones or sticks)
-1 cup bagel chips
-2 cups Chex
-1 cup pecans
-1 cup cashews
-2 cups uncooked oat cereal
-1/3 cup butter or margarine
-1/2 teaspoon onion powder
-1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
-1/8 teaspoon white pepper
-1/8 teaspoon cayenne powder
-1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Combine the pretzels, broken up bagel chips, chex, and nuts. Toss gently to combine well. In a small saucepan, melt butter, stirring in the remaining ingredients.

Drizzle this mixture into the crockpot, and toss gently again until all ingredients are well coated. Cover and cook on low for three hours, stirring each hour.

Cook without a lid for 1/2 hour at the end. Drain on paper towels and store in airtight containers.

You can see that there are many approaches to making these snack mix recipes, but they're all so good! Try some of your own after you've mastered these simple recipes.
