Don't forget to support our troops this summer. Now that the weather is starting to get nice people are starting to think about taking vacations and enjoying themselves. With all that going on it's easy to forget our troops. It doesn't matter what your political beliefs are or your opinion on the conflicts our troops are involved in, just remember this, they are people too, young American men and women who, for whatever reason have decided to serve our country. Please take a few minutes to show your thanks and appreciation for the sacrifices they're making every day. I've listed below some cheap and easy (even free) ways to support our troops.
Support the troops by sending a simple free message
Visit americasupportsyou.mil, there's a link right on the front page that allows you to send a simple text message to show that you support our troops. It's free and only takes a ffew moments of your time.
Support our troops by donating unwanted items
On that same site there's a regional listing of all the places you can donate stuff to support the troops. What's garbage to you can actually make a difference in a soldier's day. You can donate an old computer which can be used by our troops to check email and communicate with loved ones.
You can support the troops by donating your time
The USO has been around for a long time and has a history of fine service to our troops. Visit their site where you can donate cash as well as find local groups to possibly donate some of your time.
Take care of a soldiers pet - an easy way to support our troops
A really nice site to visit is soldiersangels.com, from this great site you can visit hundreds of sites whose mission it is to suport our troops. You can donate calling cards, send some baked good and even donate some time to a soldier deployed overseas. Did you know that you can volunteer to take care of a soldiers pet while he/she is deployed? This is just one of the easy ways you can support our troops.
Purchase 'We support our troops" merchandise
Another way to support our troops is by purchasing simple 'we support our troops' magnets, ribbons and shirts. Trust me, they'll appreciate seeing this when they're home on leave.
