Easy Baking Recipes Using A Pie Crust

Be it teatime snacks or as a regular snack item for your family, here are some easy-to-make and bake recipes. The shortcut used in all of these recipes is the pie crust or pie shell which can be bought, or premade and kept frozen. The easiest way to make such a homemade baking recipe will be by using the premade pastry shells available in the market. In case you are interested in making the crust yourself, here is the recipe.

Mix 2 cups all-purpose flour with a teaspoon of sugar and salt each. To this, add cold unsalted butter cubes and mix with your fingertips, you should not knead the pie dough as it will become hard and not crumbly as is preferred. Now add a bit of ice water till you get pliable yet firm dough. You can make a sphere out of the dough and refrigerate it for an hour. Take out the dough and roll it using a rolling pin on a smooth surface, dust the dough with flour to prevent sticking.

Now roll it into a medium-thick sheet. You can cut the dough with a cookie cutter to fit your muffin tray or custard moulds as desired. Once you place the sheet in the tray, press lightly to fit well. Cut any left-out dough to prevent burning. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degree Celsius for thirty minutes. Once cooled, you can take out the shells and store them in a plastic wrap and keep them refrigerated.

Jam tarts

This is an easy baking recipe which will be loved by the young and old alike. Making jam tarts is easy once you have the premade pastry shell. You can make this with any sort of jam or fruit conserve. All you have to do is to take the frozen pastry shell from your fridge, add your favorite jam or fruit conserve, fit it in a muffin tray or mould and bake for 5 minutes at 200 degree Celsius. The jam will melt and bubble in the tart, and you will get a delicious aroma. Take it out from the oven and serve it as a teatime accompaniment.

Quiches

In this baking recipe for quiches, all you have to do is to make the filling with a variety of ingredients already available in your fridge. The basic quiche filling is made with eggs, cheese, cream and your favorite vegetable as filling. Mushrooms, capsicums and broccoli make excellent filling. You can fit in the pie crusts easily into your muffin tray to be baked in the oven. Bake till done and your delicious quiches are ready to be served.

Mini pies

Here’s an easy baking recipe for fresh fruit pies. Make a filling of your choice using any fresh fruit, sugar and cinnamon powder to fill the pie. You can cover these mini pies with breadcrumbs mixed with butter. Once you cover the pie, you can prepare a glazing with powdered sugar and an egg white with a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg powder. Brush the glazing onto the pie and bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes. Your melt-in-the-mouth delicious mini pies are ready.
