Kenya best education, list of top and best private schools in Kenya.

If you are a tourist, a diplomat, an expatriate or just wishing to visit Kenya for a longer period probably with your family and you are worried about education in Kenya or whether the education system in Kenya will offer the best for your children, be assured that Kenya has some of the Best Private International Schools.

Kenya has some of the best reputed international private schools that offer most of the curriculum offered in other countries including IGCSE, ‘A’ Level examinations and International Baccalaureate Diploma. In this articles I will sample six of the best international private schools in Kenya and what they have to offer in terms of education.

Brookhouse International School – Kenya

Brookhouse International School is situated in the South West of Nairobi about 15Km from the Capital City Nairobi and is adjacent to the famous Nairobi National Park. The school has been in existence since 1981 and includes a Kindergarten, Junior and Senior schools. There is boarding accommodation for about 200 students. The school also provides sports facilities which includes swimming pool, pitches for cricket, soccer and rugby.

Brookhouse offers some of the best learning facilities which include three purpose-built modern science laboratories, a new library and resource centre, three computer suites, gymnasium, state of the Art Auditorium and centre for sixth formers.

The school offers English National Curriculum with International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the ‘A’ Level examinations. A class population ranges from 20 to 25 students per class. Most students from Brookhouse School proceed to universities in United Kingdom (UK), Australia, Canada, South Africa and USA. Hillcrest International School - Kenya

Hillcrest International School was started in 1964 to cater for cosmopolitan and international students in post independence Kenya. This school has continued to be the best especially in sports where they have been ranked 1st several times in the National Hockey Championships. The school has a population of about 500 students most of them international students.

Hillcrest International School offers International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the ‘A’ Level examinations that are set and marked by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES). The school set up comprises of Early Years, Preparatory and Secondary schools.

Most of the teachers are recruited from Kenya and Britain. Most students from here proceed to universities in United Kingdom (UK), Australia, Canada, South Africa, USA and other European countries.

International School of Kenya

International School of Kenya was started in 1976 and comprises of kindergarten to grade 12. The school is located in the North west side of the Capital city Nairobi and is the biggest International school in Kenya. It offers North American High school diploma or the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

The school is divided into Elementary School (Pre-kindergarten to grade 5), Middle School (grades 6-8), and High School (grades 9-12). International School of Kenya Arts Center is one of the best theatre facilities in Nairobi.Other facilities includes; gymnasium and heated outdoor swimming pool.

The school also provides different sport facilities including those for cricket, baseball, tennis etc. The school has a population of about 600 students most of them from America, Kenya, Britain, Canada and Sweden.

Braeburn Schools Limited - Kenya

Braeburn Schools Limited Is a group of international schools that span the East African region. It was started in 1968 by an English lady and was initially called Braeburn House International School.

It compises of Braeburn School, Braeburn High School, Braeburn College, Braeside School and High School, Braeburn Mombasa International School, Braeburn Kisumu International School as well as Braeburn Schools in Tanzania. It offers International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), the ‘A’ Level examinations, Kenyan national examinations as well as Diploma courses.

St Andrew's School - Turi Kenya

St Andrew's School is an international school located in the Kenyan Rift Valley near Nakuru town and offers British Curriculum of education. The school comprises of a Preparatory and Senior school and the school's curriculum is predominantly based on the British model, with IGCSE and A' Levels examinations.

Most of the teachers are British and a few Kenyans with most students being international students although local and regional students from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda also make up the school’s population.

The school has a swimming pool, tennis courts, a squash court and pitches (turf wickets) as sport facilities with others being under construction. Most students proceed to universities in United Kingdom (UK), Australia, Canada, South Africa, USA and other European countries.

Founded in 1927 and named after the Cambridge College attended by its founding Headmaster, Harold Turner, Pembroke House School is probably one of the oldest prep schools in Kenya. The school has been a charitable trust since 1959 and all income is re-invested to improve education standards. Its mode of learning with small class sizes, one-to-one tuition and learners support provides an all-rounded International Education to each individual child.
