Almost everyone has or at least knows someone that has a tattoo they would like to have removed. Tattoos are a beautiful thing. However sometimes they cause issues in our lives. tattoos can hold you back from a job and/or even a promotion. There are also the tattoos that symbolize hate and prejudice. As you go through life feelings and opinions change. With those changes the desire to remove the bad from your body grows. along with hate and prejudice, gang tattoos also become a huge problem. If you are no longer affiliated with the gang you would definatly want to have those tattoos removed. it is very unfortunate but shots have been fired and several people have died because of a tattoo on their body. Another issue is the X. Ex husbands, wifes, boyfriends and girlfriends names that you have had tattooed on you. It's never a good idea to have a name put on you unless it is your child. But if you did make that desicion at one time in your life, you may now want it to go away, far, far away. It is possible. Tattoo removal has improved over the last few years. it may cost you but it can be done.

The most common method of tattoo removal is laser removal. Laser removal works by targeting the ink with pulses of highly concentrated light that breaks down the ink into tiny fragments/ These fragments are then cleared away by your own immune system. However, not very many tattoos can be removed with just one treatment. With several treatments the laser can penetrate the skin deeper to destroy all the ink in the skin. With that, The more treatments you have the more damage you are doing to your skin. Technology has advanced to the point where scarring is minimal, in some cases there is no scarring at all. Every client and tattoo are different.

Laser tattoo removal is very painful. There is no point in trying to sugar coat it, IT HURTS. But what hurt more is the pain to the pocket book. Costs can range from $150.00 to $950.00 per session. Depending on the tattoo it can take anywhere from one to ten sessions to completely remove a tattoo. That starts to add up fast, and the effectiveness of the removal still isn't guaranteed.

With most medical procedures ther are different options. Intense pulsed light therapy or IPL, is another option for tattoo removal. It does come with a price, a big price. One clinic offers a price tag of $10.00 per pulse. One session could be 40 to 60 pulses. This could add up to a very significant amount of money. They do say you get what you pay for. It is said that this method is less painful and more effective than laser therapy. The procedure is mostly the same.

If laser removal or IPL are not an option there are others. They are much more painful, scar and damage the skin but can be less expensive. There is dermabrasion, which actually sands away layers of skin through abrasive friction. Another option is excision. This is where the tattoo is cut out and they skin is sewn back together. Again these options are very, very painful and will leave scarring and damage to the skin.

In some cases a bad or unwanted tattoo can be covered with a new tattoo. No you can't put a yellow sun on top of a black panther but a good tattoo artist can cover up an unwanted tattoo. Several tattoo artist are becoming skilled in cover-up tattoos. The can also work with you to come up with a design that will not only cover the old tattoo but cover it well and look like the old tattoo never existed. It is important to find an experienced cover-up artist. Ask to see thier portfolio for examples.Once a cover up has been done it is nearly impossible to cover it up again if it isn't done right the first time.
