Skin care remedies prepared and implemented at home are a very economical approach to achieve beautiful skin and save money.  Another plus to creating homemade facial treatments is that then there is an element of control over the ingredients and one knows exactly what is being put on the skin. Home constructed facial therapies can be custom made to fit the users exact skin type as well insuring that no chemicals or preservatives are added that can lead to skin irritation.  Making skin care remedies at home can also save money because many of the needed ingredients can be found already in the kitchen.  There are a multitude of ingredients found in most homes that aid in smoother skin as well as helping to combat acne.  Facials also have an aesthetic purpose by allowing the user to relax and to utilize aromatherapy to enhance the mood.  This is achieved by adding several drops of a favorite essential oil to the mix.

A simple facial remedy that can be used anywhere from daily to weekly to freshen the face contains only three ingredients that are easily and cheaply found.  The items needed for this compound are 1 teaspoon of olive oil; 1 egg yolk; 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 drops of a favorite essential oil if desired.

Combining of the ingredients is a simple process.  Take a fork in hand and use it to whip the egg yolk until it is broken up and smooth.  Egg is a wonderful ingredient for skin care as it helps to clean and smooth the skin.  The egg whites are not utilized in this facial concoction due to the fact that the sticky texture can cause them to be drying to the skin.

Next, add one teaspoon of olive oil to the beaten egg yolk.  Then warm up a tablespoon of honey and mix it into the yolk-oil mixture.  Olive oil is a natural oil that not only cleans the skin well, but it is also very moisturizing as well.

Blend in one or two drops of a favorite essential oil if desired.  This is a totally optional step and just depends on personal preference.  The essential oil of peppermint is good for a feeling of revitalization while lavender essential oil leads to feelings of relaxation.  Make sure to only add one ot two drops of the essential oil of choice because more is not necessarily a good thing.  Too much essential oil can lead to skin discomfort or irritation.

Take a small amount of the mixture at a time and gently massage the homemade cream onto the face in a circular motion, being careful to avoid the lip and eye area. Allow the face cream to sit and absorb into the face for approximately 15 minutes before rinsing off using warm water.  This is a very safe facial skin care treatment.  It is safe to use daily or once a week depending on personal preference.
