The establishment and discovery of electronics as a different branch dates back in the year 1906. It was when Lee De Forest concocted a 'Triode', which was capable of amplifying electrical circuits without taking aid from any non-mechanical device. After this invention, electrical technology became distinct from electronics and was given a different identity. Since then, it is considered to be a bough of science and technology, where electrons in motion are controlled and used in various devices and in vacuum. Every electronic device functions by the mechanism of electron motion control done by semiconductors.
Semiconductors are used profusely in the preparation of varied electronic circuits for deciphering diverse practical problems in electronics. Electronic engineering is the subject area where things related to electronics and unraveling of various complex electronic circuits are taught. Today, electronics is a broad and extensive field with numerous applications and advantages. They have vast applications and are used in manufacture of many devices. Our high end computers and mobile phones are results of electronic circuits and components.
In electronics, basically there are two types of circuits - analog circuit and digital circuits. Radio, transistor amplifier, oscillators, operational amplifiers and vacuum tubes are some of the good examples of analog circuits. Where as, programmable logic controllers, digital clocks, computers, and Digital Signal Processors are some of the examples of digital circuits.
Students keen in studying such circuits and designing more petite and complicated devices can pursue electronic and communication engineering. This is a lucrative industry, with huge job opportunities.
