The Westin Maui Resort Offers a Full Scale Resort for Your Dream Maui Vacation

Everybody loves vacations.  It is a time to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  We all dream of the perfect destination whether it is Europe, Australia, or the Caribbean.  Everyone has his or her own preference.  A more pleasurable experience would be a destination that offers all the activities available within reach of where you are staying.

If your dream takes you to Maui you won’t have to worry about what to do or where you stay because The Westin Maui Resort and Spa claims they can take care of all your needs.  The criteria for an excellent tropical resort would include an outdoor pool, comfortable and clean rooms, and activities to keep everyone busy.

The Westin Maui is famous for its five spacious pools including a separate deck for adults.  The pool has many water features pouring into it plus a 128 feet tall water slide.  The pool area is fun for the whole family.  If you don’t feel like getting wet there is plenty of deck space and lounge chairs to bask in the sun.  While lying out, you can hear the sound of the waves crashing on the shore because they are only ten feet away.  Also, the overall landscape of this area is incredible.  The towering palm trees offer shade over the beautiful tropical gardens.  Several outstanding water features flow into a giant koi pond filled with three feet long koi.  Pink flamingos and colorful parrots can also be seen surrounding the pond.

Since most of your time in Maui is spent outside your hotel room, The Westin Maui keeps the room simple.  They splurge on necessary items such as the white Heavenly bed linens and pillows.  The fabrics are soft and smell of fresh laundry softener sheets.  The shower is spacious with a curved rod for extra room and the same Heavenly linen for a curtain.  For the short time you are in your room to sleep and shower and change the hotel staff values your privacy and works to stay out of your way..

There are plenty of activities to keep you busy.  The activities range from adventures for the kids to water sports for everyone to health and fitness for those who don’t take a day off.  There is a group for kids activities called Keiko kids where they go on salamander hunts in the gardens to playing video games.  At the front of the resort are a beautiful golf course and tennis courts

with magnificent views of the mountain.  A three-minute walk north of the resort will bring you to Whalers Village, a well-known shopping mall with stores such as Tiffany, Louis Vuitton and Coach.  Water sport activities include snorkeling, scuba diving and lessons, and wind surfing.  In the health and fitness area, you can go to the gym, which has a wall of windows where you can look out onto the beauty of the pools, the beach and the koi pond.  The gym offers equipment for a full body workout if you are worried about gaining the extra few vacation pounds.  The hotel’s spa offers full service for anyone’s needs.  You can even take your massage down by the pool and listen to the sound of the ocean.

It is hard to believe that there are any flaws at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa.  However, nothing is perfect, even in Paradise.  I recommend one to bring a lot of extra spending money because everything from food to activities is expensive.  A lot of the activities offered only take up at most, half the day so if you are not into just lounging in the sun this vacation isn’t for you.  There isn’t much else to do if you are vacationing for more the three days.  Another criticism would be that the atmosphere is more for couples and honeymooners than for a family.  The ocean was quite warm so staying in there longer than ten minutes was exhausting.  The sand also drops off about ten feet out from the shore so there isn't much area to swim and it could be hazardous to children.

Aside from the criticisms, The Westin Maui is a wonderful vacation destination.  This resort has plenty of unexpected elements, which cancel out the flaws.  Vacationing here is a once in a lifetime occurrence and you might as well make the most of it and splurge.  The landscape alone taps into your wildest imagination of the tropics.  As peoples’ interests evolve, I don't think the Westin Maui will have problems adjusting.  It is a timeless experience everyone must enjoy.
