Time Without End
Do you know that you have an immortal, undying soul; that when you close your eyes in death, life for you would have only just begun? Are you also aware that there are two inevitable destinies after death, Heaven and Hell, one of which will be your final abode depending on how you're living your life now? Yes,eternity is very real just as heaven and hell are.
Eternity is time without end. It is the lifetime of the eternal God. And man shares this eternal nature too because God breathed into his body of dust at creation to make him a living soul. So those who think death is the termination of man's existence are greatly mistaken.Death is only a gateway to eternity. "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he had done, whether it be good or bad"(2 Corinthians 5:10)
Consider the awesomeness of eternity as you reflect on this analogies. Suppose you were to empty the ocean with a tea cup.The time it will take you to finish that task is only a negligible part of eternity. Suppose a little boy was given a razor blade to fell all the trees in the forest. By the time He finishes that task, only a small fraction of eternity would have passed. Supposed also, that a man were to use a hammer to break all the hills, rocks and mountains in the world. If he did it successfully, the time spent on the task would just be a very minute part of eternity. Eternity is, indeed, a timeless time!
Now that you know what eternity looks like, it is important for you to ask yourself this heart - searching question: "Where will I spend eternity after death? Will it be in heaven or in hell?" This is a question you must answer now or live to regret all through eternity. There is no use mincing words - every sinner that dies ends up in hell, a place of evalasting anguish and regret; while every believer that dies ends up in heaven, a place of eternal rest, peace and joy. No man can escape either of these destinies because ".....it is appointed unto men once to die; but after this the judgement" (Hebrews 9:27). So every religion and doctrine that teaches you that you have the opportunity to atone for your sins in the life hereafter teaches you a damable heresy. Flee from such teachings! Every teaching that tells you that God is too merciful to damn any soul He created is already preparing you for the greatest ruin. Please flee!
Now is the time to repent of your sinful ways and turn to God who is faithful and just to forgive all your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. "Come now and let us reason together," He says, "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). How long will you spurn His gentle pleadings? Why not run to the Mercy Seat today while there is still room at the cross for you? Do it now, and you will have the hope of spending your eternity in peace and bliss.
Perhaps you are a fervent believer? Then you must remain steadfast in the Lord. Never turn back to the attractions and allurements of the world because "No man , having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke 9:62). Eternity is nearer than anyone can think of. And it draws even nearer, day by day. Don't be caught unawares like the five foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1-13). Be prepared!
