You’re planning to buy a ring. You’ve
been looking at engagement, wedding, promise and eternity rings and you’ve come to the conclusion that an eternity
ring can double as a ring for your engagement and as a wedding band.
You’ve also discovered that a full or half eternity
ring is mostly about diamonds. In fact a band can
have as many as 40 or 50 small to medium diamonds in one ring, and a
half eternity ring will have a minimum of three to five or more
diamonds.
Full Eternity or Half Eternity
Rings, It’s all about Diamonds
It doesn’t seem to matter if you
select a white gold eternity ring or a silver or gold
band as the base metal into which the gemstones are set, the biggest
decision will be the stones, the diamonds or the emeralds (if you
prefer a green emerald or a combination of diamonds and
emeralds alternating around the band) or a ruby eternity ring (also
usually with alternating diamonds between the red gems). No matter
what style or combination of stones or settings or metals, it’s
about the diamonds. And unless you’ve decided to go with a cubic
zirconia ring (or cz ) your purchase of an eternity ring is going to be one of the major
purchases of your life, not only because of the financial investment
but because of the emotional and sentimental value this purchase will
carry for you and another special person for the rest of your lives.
Buying Diamond Rings and Jewelry in
Hard Times
Although jewelry sales have dropped
over 10% in the last year due to global economic conditions, it
appears that that drop is a reflection of less people buying personal
luxury items for themselves but has scarcely deterred the jewelry
buyers who are in the market for a gift, or for wedding and
engagement rings.
In fact, it appears that eternity ring sales are
actually increasing because they serve a dual purpose of being an engagement ring and also can be used for
a wedding band without having to buy a separate band or set of
diamonds for engagement. It is also interesting that almost half of
all gifts, even in difficult times, are jewelry, gold, silver and
diamonds. And holiday season giving and personal rings for love and
marriage appear to be more important than ever in times of crisis.
