Ever Bloom is the heroine of the story. She's recently been in a car wreck which killed her immediate family and goes to live with an aunt who lives across the country. Of course she's going to be guilt-ridden as the only survivor of a wreck that killed not only her parents and her sister but her little dog too.
As a result of the car crash Ever can now hear the thoughts of others. This may sound good but I'd expect hearing the thoughts of a bunch of teenagers is a bit unpleasant and as a defense mechanism to drown out the noise Ever listens to loud music. Other side effects of the car crash include the ability to see auras and knowing everything about anyone by a simple touch.
Having all these problems would tend to make a person a little odd so the teenagers at her new school can't accept her. She's different y'know. Now we've got this sensitive young social reject whose feeling all sorts of survivor guilt and living with an aunt that is emotionally distant so the only thing that can happen at this point isâ¦
In walks mysterious stranger.
New guy in school, also somewhat strange, and with unusual powers meets social outcast teenage girl with some emotional baggage.
This series seems to be a love it or hate it sort of book. When I read the reviews on Amazon there were no neutral reviews. It was either loved it or loathed it. Lovers of vampire fiction have a lot of books to choose from and this is a vampire series which is ongoing.
