Everyone Can Enjoy Simple Cookie Recipes

Everyone loves eating a cookie so having simple cookie recipes is a good idea. Since cookies are easy to make they make great dessert contributions for dinner parties and potluck meals for a group. And everyone is drawn to the smell of cookies baking. These simple cookie recipes are good for you and simple to make too. Plus they have the added benefit of being fat free or low fat plus low carb also.

Cookie Varieties

Some of the varieties of cookies using simple cookie recipes you can make with your children are chocolate chips, oatmeal, peanut butter, or ones called thumbprint cookies which are molded and filled with a filling. Don’t forget those no bake cookies too which are so easy for children to make. Use one of these simple cookie recipes next time you are planning on entertaining.

Cookies Using Sunflower Seed Butter

This one makes a nice substitute for cookies using peanut butter. Combine the following ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed down
  • Sunflower seed butter-cold
  • Some softened butter
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, large
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

Heat the oven to 275. Combine the baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour in a bowl. Then combine in another bowl the butters and both sugars and beat until fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and continue to beat until combined.

Slowly add in the flour mix and mix until combined. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 3 hours. Take out and roll into balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Using a fork or spoon, dip it in the flour and using the back press the cookies to flatten. Bake in oven for 10 minutes. Cool slightly then put on rack or wax paper.

Snickerdoodle Cookies

  • ½ cup soft butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 egg, large
  • ½ cup flour-all purpose
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 ungreased cookie sheet

Heat your oven to 375. Combine the sugar, cream of tarter and baking soda. Quickly beat the butter and add the sugar mix and beat well. Combine the vanilla and egg then beat into the mixture. Add the flour until mixed. Cover the bowl using plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Remove and make into small balls. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together and roll the balls in it so covered lightly.

Put the cookies on the cookie sheet about 2” apart. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Let cool.

You can have fun working with cookies recipes. There are many simple cookie recipes which you can be creative with. After a while it will become second nature as to what you ingredients can substitute for something else that may be healthier or better tasting. Simple cookie recipes are not cast in stone so get creative.

Great cookie recipe. It's a must try, I have a grand-daughter that has a peanut allergy. Using sunflower seed butter is a new one to me. Thanks for sharing.
