Everyone Can Help Save the Environment

By Edited Aug 13, 2015 0 1

We are all responsible for the condition of our environment. Still, it is not too late for each one of us to help save the environment. We all hear about the climate change, the depletion of the ozone layer, global warming, and polluted air. It is time that people throughout the world begin working together, as one team, as one community, to stop the damage that has been created and cut back on further damage.
One of the most important things we can do to help save the environment is to use renewable energy sources.

It is estimated that we use 71 per cent of electricity, in the United States, that is produced by burning fossil fuels. Coal is the main source of the damage that adds to the pollution. The average home will burn about 12,000 pounds each year of coal. This is equivalent to two cars producing pollution. Renewable energy would be equivalent to planting 400 trees per household. Solar panels are a great way to meet this need. They are becoming so popular that they can be rented in some areas. They are also much less costly than their original cost.

Another way we can help save the environment is by electing representatives of those who support environmental issues as well as renewable energy. Our politicians are becoming more knowledgeable about these issues as the world continues to make people aware of our problems. If a politician does not want to support environmental issues then we should not support their candidacy.

In your home there are things you can do to help save the environment. For example, you can check all of the faucets and other appliances (such as refrigerators which deliver water or that are equipped with an ice-maker) that uses water directly from the source. If you find drips you need to immediately have them fixed. If you cannot do so immediately then you can place a container under the drip to catch the water. This water can then be used to water plants, and so forth. When you take a shower you can turn the water off while you wash your hair. You can also turn off the water while you brush your teeth. You need to save as much water as possible - it is so easy to waste.

Many cities offer car pooling plans where they try to match drivers. This is a great way to not only save on fuel but also to reduce the amount of pollutants left in the air. Imagine - if six people share a ride each day that is cutting back on gas and pollution on five cars. If you are considering purchasing a new car in the future consider buying a hybrid. As their popularity increases so do the number of models from which to choose.

Another way you can help save the environment, where your car is concerned, is to plan your errands in advance so you have a route you will follow that allows you to save gas and cut back on your miles driven. You can also cut back on car use by riding your bicycle to run errands, to visit friends, and so forth. Walking is also a great way to exercise and to help save the environment.
