Exceeding Your New Years' Fitness Goals in Record Time

The Suprising Benefits of Resveratrol

It's an annual ritual around this time of year. You look yourself in the mirror and make your resolution that this time, this year, you're going to take it seriously and not quit. This is the year you're really going to get healthyy and get into shape. Of course this isn't the only resolution floating around at the turn of the year. Many people promise things like getting the garage organized or spending more time with the family But far and away the most 'popular' resolution you'll find out there has to do with better health.

"Getting healthy" can mean different things depending on who the person is who is saying it. One person might say that for them, they want to be able to play soccer with their kids without stopping every 5 minutes while someone else wants to improve their total bench press and reduce their 40 yard dash speed so they can get into the National Football League. Maybe someone wants to bring the cholesterol numbers within a healthy range while someone else is looking to set a certain amount of time aside each week for pure relaxation or meditation.

Still, if there was just ONE 'way' to get healthier, by far what you would hear most people wanting would be to lose weight. More specifically, losing unwanted fat from your body. While losing fat is the #1 goal, the close runner's up include cardiovascular health in the form of better endurance and also adding muscle, lean and functional muscle, to their frames.

One thing that should be clear here is that becoming fit and healthy has nothing to do with New Year's resolutions. No matter what time of the year it is, all the things mentioned above can be goals to help you get to a longer, healthier, happier life. One other thing that should be clear to most people regardless of what their goals are, is that it is going to be an uphill struggle. As such, getting as much help on your side as possible is a wise thing to strive for.

Speaking of getting as much of an advantage as possible, there are certain supplements out there that are available to help you in your quest. Sure, there is a lot of hype around a lot of different supplements, and more than likely most of the stuff out there is just that; marketing hype that's not worth the paper (or screen space) it's printed on. A word of warning here before you accidentally throw the baby out with the bath water, as it were. Just because there are a lot of unscrupulous companies out there selling what amounts to snake oil, does not mean that there aren't some very good, very exciting supplements that can seriously help you on your way.

A prime example of this latter 'good' news is resveratrol.

Resveratrol is a compound that has been making a lot of waves for a while now. Most people are familiar with the research showing that red grapes, whether in red wine or grape juice, have a lot of healthy components to them. Resveratrol is the extracted part that has those benefits You have heard that drinking red wine in moderation is good for your health, right?

Part of the problem with the fact that red wine has some health benefits is the obvious fact that, if you were to go overboard trying to 'be healthy' with it, it would certainly be detrimental to your overall health. But ideally you DO want to get more resveratrol than what you can extract by drinking wine. In fact, you want to get CONSIDERABLY more of it in your daily diet. That's why it is so exciting to have the concentrated benefits in a supplemental pill that you can take daily so you get exponentially higher benefits than if you were drinking wine and you don't have the obvious downside of drinking all that wine. There is no doubt that drinking in excess - much less in the EXTREME excess that would be necessary in this situation - would never be considered anything remotely 'healthy'

Resveratrol is so exciting it is getting mentioned a lot in a lot of highly respected places and conversations. To list a few resources that have had good things to report: the New York Times, WebMD.com, the journal "Nature" and Harvard University. Not exactly slouches in the respect department!. Despite the varied sources listed above, they are all excitedly talking about the health benefits of resveratrol including things such as helping to lose fat, gain muscle and fight against chronic diseases such as heart diseast, cancer and Alzheimer's.

One interesting point of common misunderstanding when it comes to resveratrol is this; many people think it sounds too good to be true, and/or they believe that it will be far too costly for them to use on a regular basis. The bottom line is this is simple misinformation. The first point wirth making is that when you think about all the health benefits a person can receive from it, whether young or old, overweight or athlete, it's hard to put a price on it. But beyond that, it simply is really not an expensive supplement as far as supplements go. What's more is that if you're curious about it, you can usually get a free sample of resveratrol online.
