Excess Skin: The Battle

By Edited Nov 22, 2013 1 1

One of the most frustrating things in the world is that of having loose skin after a huge drop in weight. So you find that you are having a hard time moving because you are already on the obese level, and start working out to lose some weight. You start of by jogging 10 minutes every day, then gradually increased it until you reached 30 minutes. Then, you started going to the gym three times a week! You did different work out plans just to lose that belly fat of yours. After a couple of months, you are victorious; but not quite. You then see that your sudden weight loss caused your skin to not contract immediately, therefor leaving you with a lot of excess skin.

Excess skin is very common among obese people who drop weight instantly, and among women who just came from pregnancy. This sudden drop in weight causes our skin to become loose, or in some instances, lagging. There are a few things that you need to know regarding excess skin.

First of all, you need to know how to prevent it. In order to prevent having loose skin, it is always safer to try to loose weight as slowly as possible. Haste makes waste. If you try to drop your weight as fast as possible, and burn all the fat in your body in a very quick fashion, then your body will not have enough time to adjust to the sudden change in body composition. Our skin needs a lot of time to retract to its original form, and follow the shape of your body. Excess skin can be really annoying because moving with them feels like something is hanging on your body. It actually is a very unpleasant feeling.

The second thing you need to know is how to get rid of excess skin. There are a number of options which you can do to solve this problem. One of them is to undergo an operation or clinical treatment to remove the excess skin. Basically, this process involves removing the extra skin completely. Downside to this is that scars may be left after the operation. Another option is to apply skin creams. These skin creams which are available in the market today have a lot of benefits for skin contraction. They can help speed up the process in which the skin contracts, allowing it to return to its original and beautiful state.

Trying to get rid of loose skin after weight loss is a very challenging adventure, but as the saying goes, nothing is impossible. In no time, your excess skin will be gone and you can go back to a life of no insecurities.
