Exercise

By Edited Jan 9, 2014 3 6

Back in the early days of human existence there was not really such a thing as exercise. Just daily living was exercise enough. From the cave men hunting and gathering for their food, to the pioneers of America and their daily chores of farming, there was plenty of exercise going on. With the advent of technology much of the daily chores humans used to do were taken over by machines. And humans got lazier and lazier.

In modern times the United States of America currently is the most obese country in the world. We eat fast food and all sorts of junk food full of calories and we get fatter all the time. The children in the U.S. and other countries are a concern for doctors and health experts. Our children are sitting in front of computers, video games, and tv's in increasing numbers. Ask a kid to go outside to play and they have no idea what to do.

Exercise can be as easy or complicated as one chooses. There are many many forms of exercise, just walking is an exercise. Adding an hour of walking after our evening meal can burn 230 calories in a person weighing 150 pounds. Walking to the refrigerator to get a piece of pie is not exercise. Biking, hiking, playing a friendly game of football, throwing a frisbee, these are forms of exercise. Exercise is defined as an activity performed in order to develop or maintain physical fitness or overall health. Regular physical activity can help prevent heart disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity.

Choosing an exercise routine does not have to be complicated these days. Go on the internet and you will get millions of hits in google for exercise. There are exercises for the elderly and for the young. From just moving your muscles while sitting in a chair for the older folks to getting out and doing strenuous exercise to get you sweating, any form of exercise is good for you.

Types of different exercises include, Aerobics, cycling, hiking, weight training, swimming, walking, yogo, isometric, and pilates. The list goes on and on and there is an exercise for everyone. Just experiment with different exercises and find the ones that you like and stick to them. This is for your health. You can join a health club and they have different exercise plans to fit your needs. You can purchase cheap equipment for home use and do it yourself. Whatever you decide, make the decision for you and your children. To your health.
